OK so I ran techstream while cold and actually got better injector results (although that second one is still out of line):

Are the EGR values ok? At 160k I would think they would probably be full of some soot. After just now looking at the results of the guy above me his EGR lift sensor voltage is only 15% while mine is 47.6% which is pretty far apart. Clean out the EGR?

Injection feedback volume is a bit too high at 3.07 but from what was luxi46 posted on page 1 none of the explanations really apply to me... :?

Out of spec injection volume & feedback values can mean one or more of the following:
- Blocked injector(s) (positive feedback value and low injection volume)
- Leaking injector seats, leaking valve stem seals or cracked piston (negative feedback value)
- Worn injector (negative feedback value)

AdamHC wrote:Also I did find these error codes but all of them say non continuous and not to diagnose. The MAF one would have happened a month or so ago when I cleaned the MAF and a check engine light came on but resolved itself a couple starts later that day. Another may be for the timing belt because the guy at the shop forgot to change the reminder after he replaced it (so I did it myself).

Every fault code is logged in history (until reset), even if they get resolved eventually, either by themselves or fixed. Diagnose if they are logged as "current".

AdamHC wrote:OK so I ran techstream while cold and actually got better injector results (although that second one is still out of line)

When we say cold, we mean engine cold (about 40c), not outside air temp cold :D . Your output shows coolant temp as already up to normal operation temp.

AdamHC wrote:And also tried clicking OBDII from the main menu while plugged in and got a bit of diagnostics stuff

That section is generic OBDII (as in not Toyota specific), and as such not as detailed.

AdamHC wrote:Are the EGR values ok? At 160k I would think they would probably be full of some soot

Depends on driving style, city or highway. Some members on here have reported 200k+ without much buildup. Your MAP value is ok, so I don't think your EGR cooler is blocked. Doesn't say anything towards soot build-up in the intake though. You can only be sure by doing a visual inspection. Boxhead gave you a few pointers about the low MAF reading. I'd explore that avenue first as it is a more serious issue than intake build-up.

AdamHC wrote:After just now looking at the results of the guy above me his EGR lift sensor voltage is only 15% while mine is 47.6% which is pretty far apart. Clean out the EGR?

If you're referring to swhilux, his target EGR position is to be closed. Probably due to longer than 10min engine idle runtime. This is normal. Lift sensor voltage (in EGR closed position) doesn't go below ±15%. Sounds odd, but this is due to the way it is calculated, it will never get to 0%. Yours is 47% because your EGr valve is about half way opened.

It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. Had the ute idling and thought I'd see what's was happening with it.

OK, have a 03/2008 hilux SR D4D, 90,000kms, always rattled badly from new, Toyota serviced but always said the injectors were within specs. Just fitted BDG replacement injectors, manifold etc clean, water watch fitted and breather filter fitted, intercooler serviced to fix slight leak (not to mention an exedy heavy duty clutch with larger flywheel, first replacement clutch at 20,000ks under warranty), so after all those dollars I am a bit concerned about the lifespan of these utes. Can you see any potential problems that I should address now. Two sets of figures, one at 33deg C, the other at 82deg C, started car idle for several minutes then test, then drove car till warmish then test. I have a Steinbaeur Chip fitted but I assume this will not effect the readings at idle, correct me if I am wrong

Took these readings this morning, 2011 facelift D4D SR5 with 88000 kms.
If someone familiar could please take a look it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Your injector feedback readings are within spec. What problems do you have?

No problems, well none with the hilux anyway.
Just a check up, obviously the injectors are ok(ish).
I'm a diesel fitter/marine engineer and a bloody good googler, toyota/techstream expert I am not, I am unfamiliar with both the program and the "normal" values. Really just posted the readings hoping someone who uses this stuff day in/day out could take a look for me....

Hi All

Ran Techstream again this morning for my routine check. I have noticed a audible knock when the engine is cold. When doing the testing today it was quiet until about 35 degrees. At the time I started hearing it I noticed the number 4 injector was under fuelling (-1.3) on that cylinder. Anyone know if this is normal behaviour as the other injectors were all very similar readings. The engine always has been rattly at operating temp since I got it at 80 000 kms. Very noticeable and annoying at highway speeds. I have driven D4D hilux's in the past and although noisy I never noticed the high pitch rattle. I have so far done the following: Cleaned MAP and MAF, changed air and fuel filters, completely dismantled and cleaned EGR and intake, experimented with different brand fuels and tried 2 stroke as an additive. my fuel economy also seems higher than what other Newhilux members are getting with a SR AUTO 4x4 with similar mods, tyre sizes.

Davo all crd vehicles are louder at 2000rpm or roundabouts, theres no problems unless you get the cold knock sound which is very very loud and metallic clunking.

I might have my words mixed up, but I think the injector in #4 is actually OVER fueling or at least the ECU thinks it is, correcting for it by taking fuel away, hence the minus 1.3. Could be a worn injector or leaking seats. But before changing them out, what year is it mate? If it's post aug 2009, you could try the simple stuff first and do a pilot relearn.

If you're not having any hesitation or extreme fluctuating fuel pressure (which from the looks of it you don't) I wouldn't look at the SCV as the source though. The target scv current also looks normal around 1100mA. If it were sticking it would draw alot more current. But if you must, you can take it out and look for bad score marks on the plunger which would indicate sticking and lead to before mentioned symptoms. You should really try the pilot relearn first, as it doesn't involve unbolting anything.

Had injectors replaced and intake manifold cleaned out about 3 weeks ago. Was going real well prior to that with the exception of a leaky injector seal which is why I had injectors replaced

Since then have been struggling to get 400km to a tank unloaded and really low on power.

feels like the power loss that occurs when you have a dirty MAF and map filter

found a couple of loose bolts and clamps on the intercooler, tightened up loose intercooler clamps, cleaned map and maf, no real improvement.

Loss of power and torque is getting real annoying. Would take it back to where I got the injectors done but I cant afford to take time off work at the moment or to be without the vehicle
