P0047 Turbo boost solenoid. Need help

Postby SRLUXX on Sat, 02 Nov 2013 9:57 +0000

Hey lads,

went through a deep creek yesterday and got water inside the cab upto around the gearstick.
'
got snatched out and then it put up a check engine light and went into limp mode.
Code being P0047 Turbo boost solenoid low voltage.

Iv cleaned the plugs onto the turbo, checked every fuse inside and out with a test light, cleaned every plug that would have gotton wet with contact cleaner.

Still no joy.

anybody have this issue before?? Iv also got airbag, ABS, lights on too.

Your air bag computer will be knackeed as you drowned it. It is found under the center air box just in front of the gear shifter.

And the turbo computer is most likley wet as well.
Remove the glove box it is the silver boxed computer bottom left

Hope this helps and good luck

This Is a long shot, but would a turbo computer out of of 05 hilux be compatible with my 2012 SR single cab D4d? There is one at the wreckers here in Mackay.

Iam guessing the airbag won't, I will buy that off Toyota for sure.

Ahh really? Bugger. I was hoping the turbo driver would work :(

Also snapped an ABS sensor line running along the rear diff. That would explain the ABS light being on,

What's the best option, just get all of this from Toyota? Hope they don't jack up the prices up here, not good on the bank account after spending 2500 on tyres, rims, flares ect, apprentice wages suck! Hahahha

Hey guys, I have this error too but mine hasn't been submerged. Just came up in town. I have checked and replaced the sensors and the whole wastegate with no luck. Is there a way of testing the turbo driver or just replace and see? My hilux is standard and has 352000 on it so I'm guessing it's just aged?

Bump .

I have code error P0046 , turbo solenoid .

Been through a deep dirty puddle took in a bit of water before being snatched .
Mechanic just wants to replace the whole turbo , only because he code says so . without him even looking into anything , I don't wanna be relaxing turbo if I don't have to any ideas on anything else ?
WHEN IN DOUBT, GO FLAT OUT.

Ring BDG first, they are garret turbo suppliers, may be able to a part to help you, cheaper, nothing to loose trying.
New DENSO Injectors are the go! New genuine parts.

Check your injectors about every 10,000k.
WARNING check oil pickup screen is clear

if your mechanic wants to replace the turbo based on the fault code alone and no other diagnostic work, then take the vehicle elsewhere.

Guys, long time follower- seldom contributor

Similar to the original post, I downed the Hilux at the pig pen (Landcruiser Mountain park) a few weeks ago, but got myself out but not before flooding the cab.

I also have the P0047 Turbo - Boost Control Solenoid fault code

Just got off the phone to Toyota that say that the stepper motor is the problem that want 4k to replace/fix it...

Having no mechanical knowledge, should I be asking questions, looking around or any advice at all please...I'd settle for a hug

If it is a faulty stepped motor I believe BDG sells the motor separately

Fixed by Roo systems for $450, replacing the turbo as Toyota diagnosed for 4k would not have solved the problem- muppets
