My Lux is used by my son as his daily driver and I think the SCV is on it's way south.

He told me that it dies a few times at idle and was difficult to start.

Coincidentally, my mates Hilux had the same issue and after he changed the SCV, the problem was gone and the performance improved.
We both bought our Hilux in 2006 and both of us had bloody torque converter issues! LOL

Going to get the SCV replaced on my old baby. She's old already but still a good and reliable buddy!

Some time on that model a good clean will also fix the issue.

should the middle shaft of the scv valve come out easily

If your scv looks like the one in my pic there is can not be disassembled. If it has the Electeicial connection that plugs in from the rear it can be.

mine has the long body and connect at the rear not a side wards mount

What Nms do you guys, normally do those two bolts up on the SCV.
I normally do them up at 8Nms.

Hey all,

After lots of searching thought i would post this question here.. Its seems like i have symptoms from a number of different threads..

2010 Diesel with DP chip, 3" exhaust, 72000 kms

Had a flat battery after leaving the stereo on and doors open today (working in the shed and forgot)
Went to jump start and it started and stopped ( never done this before)
Cranked it over again and it started fine.. Decided to take it for a drive, seemed very surgy in 2nd and third then as i slowed (in 3rd) malfunction light came on in dash and went into limp mode. Never done this before..
Home and turned it off - no longer in limp mode but light remains on.
Have read threads about people with limp issues with DP chips, due to after market cruise control (above), or due to blown main fuse after jump starting wrong (checked and is not this).
Just wondering if its a coincidence and could be something with the chip or the cruise, or it is something that has happened as a result if the dead battery and jump start...
Will try and get a fault code tomorrow - if the local mech has a scanner.. Otherwise its 300kms to the city

After a flat battery it will always start then stop. At the next crank it will start. This is due to the key security system
So that bit is normal.

But. You issue could be from the chip being fitted from first start. This would throw all the basic perimeters out of spec.
I would suggest.
Disconnect battery for 30 min. Whilst the 30 min is counting down disconnect the chip fully. Reconnect the battery ( it will stop again as mentioned above)
Then after restart. Drive around for a duration then stop. Then reconnect your chip. This may help in you situation.

Did what you said and the lux ran fine without the chip connected - warning light was gone, no more surging around the 2500 rpm mark. However.. Plugged the chip back in, let it idle for 10mins, then took for a drive, surging was there again and through me straight into limp mode again Spewing - about to head away on a trip this thursday. . . looks like I may have to give DPChip a call.

Leave the chip off man. All will be good. Disconnect the battery again to clear all codes

Hey guys, what does this surging feel like?

Hi everyone,
I would just like to put this out there for information.
I have had a surging problem with my 2007 hilux for nearly two years, it has been in and out of the mechanics trying to find the source of the problem, my mechanic looked at various sensors but decided against replacing them due to cost which was good of him, well I can say that my problem has now been fixed, it turned out to be a clogged fuel pump in my long range tank, the tank was removed, cleaned and fitted with a new pump, the vehicle is now back to full power with at this point in time no more surging.
This is just for those people that may have tried a lot of different things but not the fuel pump.
Hope this can help people with this very difficult to diagnose problem.
