G'day All, WENT TO TOYOTA TODAY TO BUY A DRIVE BELT TESIONER PULLEY for my 07 Hilux 3l turbo diesel. HE GAVE ME THE WRONG PULLEY THEN TOLD ME TOYOTA DONT SUPPLY THE TESIONER PULLEY ON ITS OWN YOU HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE TENSIONER ASSEMBLY WITH THE PULLEY ATTACHED $400 WTF :o !! I am chasing up a bearing from cbc bearings for about $40... Bearing # is 30BD5222DUM , ALSO A # ON THE STEEL BUSH IS EPBD17-29. DIMENSIONS OF THE BEARING IS 52od x 22w x 17id... HOPE THAT HELPS YOU GUYS...

You will find the reason for this is that the tensioner starts to rub on its self and causing a knocking noise and slowly wears out. This is why Toyota do not replace the tensioner bearing/pulley by its self, but replaces it as an assembly .
Sorry for that news.
You can purchase aftermarket tensioners from REPCO.

But I have seen some really sad and worn out assemblies.

+1 for Partsouq. I’m all for shopping local, but not at 300% markup.

Has anyone replaced the whole assembly? Looked for some YouTube videos or diagrams, couldn’t find much on where all the bolts are and what’s involved.

Hi All, Anyone replaced the tensioner assembly ?? mines making a hell of a noise & jumping like crazy. Removed the belt & everything else turns freely so I'm assuming its the tensioner assembly. Ordering one today & plan to have a crack at it on the weekend. Any info would be great. Cheers.

Its easy once you have the belt off. Just an awkward spot to get to. Belt requires a ring spanner on the tensioner pulley to take tension off the belt. It will make sense when you are doing it.

I just priced the two pulleys and the tensioner, nearly 800 depending on where you go. Removed the pulleys on the weekend to see what the bearings are. Bought the 6 bearings yesterday for 35. Will let yas know how I go pressing the old out and the new in.ImageImage

Pretty sure the bearing in the tentioner is different. Non genuine ones have 2 more common bearings and a different slinger, the genuine is one large one from memory and looks expensive. I was doubtful about the non genuine one but seems to be going ok.
Changed all mine out at 200k but they all felt as good as new so went straight in the spares box as is.
Next change it will get a complete tentioner.

Guys, just to confirm, the OEM bearings are replaceable? From what I read the aftermarket ones are different.
$800 seems a lot of coin for something that can be serviced by a few new bearings for less than $100.

Yes they can be replaced on the pulleys. Its worth getting the tensioner though as the spring loses tension over time.

For the other pulleys howver, just buy some bearings as above.

All went well yesterday. Bearings came out easy as in the press. If doin it at home it could be easily done on a bench with a hammer and a punch or socket.
Tensioner still felt tight and strong.
