Can I do a pilot learn with this software, also auto tranny and ECU reflash?

If your lux is post aug 2009 - early 2010, you should find pilot learning under the "Utility" section. ECU and auto tranny reflash is also possible, but because of the potential of stuffing the ECU and then having to fork over $3000 for a new one, I'd be cautious. If you read the first post, I've noted some unstable connections with these Chinese cables sometimes. Not an issue for all other stuff, but dangerous for reflashes. If you really want to get into doing reflashes, the safe option would be the Mongoose Pro cable, sold by Drew Technologies. Expensive though :( .

Hence why you buy cracked versions on ebay? Are the cracked versions able to be updated?

In order to do a pilot re-learn, ecu and tranny flash it has to be registered?

To do the pilot learn, the Techstream setup outlined here is good enough. For reflashes it has to be a registered version though, because the update will be done through Toyota servers.

I have just received a cable off ebay and was able to get it working on Win 7 64bit by following the instructions on this page: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/general-d ... 4-bit.html

Depending on the version of Techstream you have the activation for it may vary but the installation of the mvci drivers including the registry change worked just as stated. Might save people running multiple OS.

Excellent info mate ;) . This should make it more accessible to those who either don't want the hassle of working with virtual machines or are having a hard time getting their hands on an XP laptop.

Hi All
Finally got my techstream and got it working. Ran a pilot learn hoping to quieten down the rattle but with no luck. Can anyone see any problems with and of these values? This was done at operating temp. I'll do a cold start injector comp. test this weekend.

Almost perfect figures It may be the fuel causing your knock. Different fuel company's can make huge differences to certain ratings

Thanks Boxhead. I'll look into the fuel. I have done the EGR clean but not the intake manifold yet. It was pretty choked up.

Used these instructions to & have the drivers running for the connector. But I cant get it to connect to the car. Everything seems fine, windows recognizes the cable fine, Techsteam opens fine, but when I click on "Connect to Vehicle" it thinks about it for a few seconds & then I get the message "Error: Unable to connect to VIM"

Not sure if its a cable issue (ebay  ) or I'm missing a setting in my laptop somewhere (Win 7 x64).
I have run the XHorse Firmware Update tool to connect to the cable & it works fine.

Tony, had this exact issue with 64bit operating system spent coulle of hours mucking about but could never get it to connect to the car. Ended up reinstalling a 32bit operating system and worked first time.
