After the first filter has done about 30,000kms, change it out for a stainless steel mesh filter that you can buy off a EBay seller.
You can simply degrease this filter unit.

Just picked up my HPD catch can yesterday. The above mentioned problem is due to Toyota having four variations with the ABS unit, change in bracket design, etc, simply take a photo of your install area ( top/mid left hand side of engine bay looking straight on at the vehicle) and then send it to HPD with your order. This way they will know exactly what bracket to send you. They have four variations for the hilux alone! Top product with service to match

Got my provent in the mail today, cost me $165 on ebay from a filter mob in WA. just the catch can tho, no brackets.

Installed my HPD catch the other day, great product. Made here in Australia, built to last, no plastic that will melt\warp, easy to clean : screw bottom off and empty, dipstick to check oil level, no replacement filters.

HPD are now offering three to four bracket designs to fit all models and variates of Hilux, my was easy to install and looks smick. Well worth the $50 difference between the Provent kit and HPD kit.

I wish they told me they had different brackets. Perhaps they could tell you on the website when you order.
Even if I had of found out, for me it was easier to modify than send it back interstate and wait for a new one.

Such a good product but little things like this is annoying.

I am looking to put in one of the HPD catch cans but have a problem.

I have a 2008 Hilux and the air hose to the turbo comes off at a different angle to the later year hilux airboxes (mine points more to the fire wall than to the side of the motor like later years). As such the hose to the turbo from the air box is in the way of where I want to install the catch can. As I have my air compressor tucked between the fire wall and ABS unit I can not install the catch can there and need to put it beside the ABS unit as pictured above.

Can any one tell me with any certainty if the lid on the later year models will fit on the air box of the early hiluxes? i.e do i only need a different lid from a 2010 or younger vehicle instead of the entire Airbox and lid? Also are the hoses from the air box to the turbo different or the same?

Yes you can if you make a bracket to fit on the passenger side on the mudguard (right-angle bracket from mitre 10 $6) and run the hoses around the rear of the engine and bingo! Unless you have dual batteries

Yeah, could probably shoe horn it in somewhere, secondary fuel filter will probably come first, which will be a bit of a pain so might just get it done by a professional
