Oil residue on exhaust tip

Postby badart on Mon, 21 May 2012 8:19 +0000

Recently passed my fingers on the exhaust tip and found it to be oily, is this normal? Checked my dad's sportero exhaust tip and no oil just black soot.

Yea it's a turbo diesel, oil consumption is normal, would double check later. Using amsoil 15w 40 synthetic which is replaced every 10,000 km.

Check it after you have given it a good run and see if it has cleaned up
On the internet you can be anything you want. It is strange that so many people choose to be stupid!

yea did that, gave it a good run, checked the exhaust, no more oily residue. Guess the oil residue that was there was from the initial break in process. thanks for the responses guys!
