Ticking noise

Postby BIGFOOTJR on Fri, 20 Apr 2012 3:08 +0000

G'day guys, I have a ticking noise that is coming from my valve train its most noticeable when I am averaging between 60-80km/h and there is no load on the engine and at quarter throttle as soon as I take my foot off the throttle there is no noise. Now its my first vehicle that is a diesel and it might be the nature of the beast but whenever I have had a petrol car and hear a ticking noise I think it could be too thin/thick oil or a worn lifter/tappet.

Oil has been changed 1500km ago by a Toyota dealer.

Sounds normal for the d4d and most common rail diesels - is it around 2000rpm? If so its normal injector noise
