my 05 was doing this on start up it has 200000ks on the clock it would smoke hard on start up so i put in a fuel injector clean and i replaced the fuel filter it was heaverly clogged up started next morrning white smoke so i changed the air fillter it had done 40,000ks also cleaned the o2 flow sensor started next morning white smoke pulled the EGR off it was clogged a bit with wet carbon yuck cleaned it (see photos in my shed) started next morning white smoke.
i was over it sent it to toyota they said i had 1 injector out of spec and 2 injectors boarder line.
so i asked them for a cost to replace all 4 it cam to $4000
![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)
rang around and found a guy doing recons for $1500 a set so went with the rekit option asked toyota to pull out injectors (see photos in my shed) and send to recon guy and reinsail total cost $1900 now i have no smoke and the truck pulls like a V8
also i changed the oil and cleaned the oil pick up in the sump it (very important) was partly blocked with the carbon that was getting in to the oil past the 2 injector seals that were poked.if you leave this to long you will f*%k your engine.
so the story is that white smoke on start up can be low compresion from poked injector seals was told to have seals changed every 40000km at a cost of $400 for the complete set.well worth doing i think
