Hay guys I'm after advise on brands and types of gauges. I'm going to install a boost and egt gauges in my pillar pod I want something to look as close as possible to the factory gauges?
Also how do you guys hook up your egt gauges? Do you have to weld a nut into the exhaust dump pipe or something?

Do hilux's come with factory boost and egt gauges??

Mate have a look at my build thread and see what you think. My gauges are autometer sport comp ones.

Depends where you want to put the egt probe, if you look in my build mine is in the collector pipe straight off the manifold. The best way to get the most accurated egt. Otherwise you can get a thread welded into the dump pipe after the turbo but you will lose a few hundred degrees of temperature and wont be as responsive.

Hey noidea. Can you please describe how you went about tapping into your manifold? Please. I wouldn't think drilling the cast would be as simple as it sounds?

Cast iron is rather soft mate so it was easy. found the right tap to fit the egt probe fitting and drilled a hole to suit that tap and tapped the thread with plenty of lub. Easy as pie. The hard part was getting it all off and back together again :D :D

Ive got auton dual gauges. Shows egt boost water temp and oil pressure all in the two guages. I got a dump pipe clamp for the egt probe. By far the easiest way to install..

Cheers,

Chris.

I'm looking at VDO gauges for my pillar pod, very clean face and easy to read but not cheap, next choice would be autometer sport comp set

Im using prosports guages and to be honest they are shit

they have a tinted screen so when they are turned of you cant see the faces, this also means onces you get sunlight on them you cant see the needle on the guage, and then with no dimmer they are super bright at night so id sugest staying away from them

Can anyone that has fitted a auto temp gauge tell me where they put the sensor I'm about to get the gauge but not sure what exactly I need for the sender is it taped into tranny or on one of the lines to the cooler.
Cheers

I've got Autron gauges and could not be happier with them, bit pricey though, but then its five readings in two gauges.
Fitted the temp sender to the top coolant outlet from the head, just drilled and tapped through an existing 8mm hole.
The two gauges do boost, EGT, coolant temp, oil pressure and transmission temp.
