When i installed my Autron gauge I simply replaced the factory oil sender with the Autron sender and taped up the factory plug out of the way. As the new programmable gauge changes to red and beeps with low oil pressure it is a lot better system than factory. The dash light actually takes very little pressure to turn off and I would suggest that by the time it came on your engine would already be lunched!
Still working on the temp sender as that one goes to the ecu as well so a simple swap cant be done.

Water temp sender. I am thinking of drilling and tapping into the thermostat housing as I don't want to cut the top radiator hose.
