Max boot is 14psi. No chip.

Ive seen over 550 degrees on the pryro, possibly over 600 but cant recall an exact time, as when its that hot, im usually hammering it over 100km/h in too low gear trying to overtake someone up a hill :D

Ive got a 3 inch exhaust and 33. The probe is in the dump pipe. I believe that the engine has to work heaps harder to push the bigger tyres. Someone with smaller tyres on the same road would get lower EGT's

Water temp varies the most and after watching it in the 6 months Ive had the gauges, I believe its the most important one and the most indicative of your engines heath at any time while driving.

If the EGT's are rising, you back off, and they go down pretty quickly. But when the water temp gets hotter, its takes a couple of minutes of more relaxed driving to bring them down to normal operating temps.

It only really starts to get super hot when hammering it for a while at higher speeds(90-110) on hilly roads. Or on soft sand...

Totally agree with ya on the water temp, I also have a 94 dual cab on 33's boosted, intercooled, it has a pyro, boost and secondary water temp gauges, it's unreal how hot you can get the motor before the factory temp gauge even starts to move, 95 degrees before the factory gauge moves off normal and at 115 degrees the factory gauge is still not in the red.

Yeah on the new 05+ Ive never seen any movement out of the water temp gauge. Ive had 110 degrees and the thing hasn't moved.

Once on the sand I saw 120 degrees!!! But I didn't look at the factory gauge so I cant comment. I stopped what I was doing and opened the bonnet.

After market water temp is essential IMO

Where did you put the water temp sensor? And what thread was it, 1/4npt or 1/8npt.?

In the top radiator hose. Cant remember the size, but it was the smaller one... so 1/8 NPT. I had the option of both with the Autron sender.... but I bought the hose adaptor first then got the sender to suit.

Any idea what size that inline blue bit is mate I might go with one of them rather drilling a hole.

36mm but i would go a bit bigger like 38 or 40. Its never going to come off but I would have preferred a tighter fit over the hose

The idiot at the shop assured me that 36mm was the right size and he couldn't be bothered to go and get a Hilux radiator hose from out the back to make sure.

The worst part about installing the gauges was trying to chase up all the adaptor bits to get the water temp sender in and the EGT probe to screw into the pre-drilled hole in my dump pipe.

Get the gauge dimming kit as well. I put up with the bright gauges for a while but I got sick of it and finally put the dimmer kit in a month back.

Is the dimmer kit from autron? How much? The brightness is annoying at night.

Cheers,

Chris.

This is probably asking a bit much but does anyone know the size of the v6 auto sump plug I'm going to try to get one with a 1/8 np hole in the middle to put a temp sender rather than putting a hole in the sump.

Here is a eBay link to the Autron lighting controller.

This is where I bought my pyro/boost and dual battery gauges...

Mitch - Did you end up working out the wiring to make them dim when the lights come on?

Cheers,

Chris.

Nope, after I spoke to you I havnt touched it since  I found wires to feed off to make it either bright or dim, but couldn't find one that dimmed when the lights come on. Someone more cluey with electrics could probably sort it out. I'll just buy the above and be done with it I think

Couldn't you run the light wire from the back of the existing dash light dimmer knob?

And 10luxxxx I wouldn't use the drain plug because you'll have a sender facing straight down. I've always put a fitting in the line to the cooler up the front. Like what mow44u used for his radiator hose but you want 10mm for your trans hose.

Yeh thanks mate I have decided to do it as you say for the same reason now I just have to find the fittings.

I tried poking around the back of the dimmer knob with a multi meter as i was adjusting the settings and I couldn't get any change in voltage... It might have something to do with the negative switching but im not 100% sure.

I thought about getting the the feed from the clock, as it seems to be the only dash light that dims, but I was sick of stuffing round with it so I just bought the Autron dimmer kit and they dim as they are supposed to!

Today I pulled the pillar cover off my 2013 sr5 dual cab to confirm wether or not there is actually a airbag in the pillar between the dash and the roof, or only in the roof above your drivers door/above your head... Much to my disappointment there IS in fact a airbag, or part of a airbag in the pillar and above your head, so really we shouldn't be fitting pillar pods and gauges to our hilux's with curtain side airbags...
