Id recommend water temp.

Its the one that I look at the most and I believe the state of your engine at any point in time.

Hi Krutch
Still looking for the full kit instal. Have you got any photos of your sensor installs...boost, pyro, water temp, oil temp, oil pressure? All ideas welcome.

Probably the least important aftermarket gauge, but the most challenging to install; Oil Temp!

The only accessible place that i could find was the oil line from the block to the turbo.
As the oil temp probe must be situated in the middle of oil flow - for accurate readings. (in-line)
*please note, all my gauges and therefore the following directions are all based on AutoMeter Sport-Comp II gauges.

You need to make, as they don't exist, a M12x1.25 double bayonet bolt and 1/8th branch fitting.
Now the fun part - i could only find these bolts (not set-screws, as you need a shank for outfeeds) in 304S/S or hi-tensile.
So this makes machining fun as these materials are very hard.
Mic specs off factory bolt and replicate with new bolt. I got the M12 'bayonet' fitting from Pirtek, then just machined a 1/8th female coupling with a nice flat face and TIG welded it to the bayonet fitting. Apparently, these bayonet fittings are only available in crimp/braise/weld - and due the the length of the temp probe, i could not tap the bayonet 1/8th - you will require some stem depth for the probe to locate in.
*NOTE: do not use pipe (PTFE) tape, as this acts as an insulator between the probe and the fittings/block as that's your NEGITIVE return for the probe.
**as per 2 pics.
This then, with some new M12 copper washes replaces the factory bayonet bolt (single).
This is a 'challenging' install, but made easier if you remove the dump pipe.
Also, try to use some silicon flex 1.5mm wire or sleeve your cable with heat shrink to protect it from radiated heat from turbo/dump pipe.

Now Oil Pressure: easy install.
Unscrew factory 1/8th pressure switch, install a T-piece (3 x 1/8th) and re-install factory and new gauge switch.
Make sure that pipe tape (PTFE) is used on all threads.

Pyro:

Straight forward, i know its been covered - dump pipe and exhaust manifold fitting.
Mine, fits straight into TiapanXP dump pipe.

Image

Image

Boost:

Similar to the oil pressure - 'T' into vacuum line as per pic.
As my gauge is an electronic full-sweep, it has a dampener in-line to reduce 'needle jump'. (little grey plastic tub)

Image

Water Temp:

Removed alloy hose fitting on engine, drilled and taped to suit probe fitting.
*As this is cast aluminum, drill and tap slowly and apply caution. Use kero as a cut/drill lubricant.

NOTE: try to use brass TAPER fittings, instead of PARALLEL fittings.

G'day, friends and neighbours.
I have been thinking seriously about getting an autron boost and egt gauge, and was wondering how long the loom for it may be? can't seem to find it anywhere. I was thinking about maybe mounting it in my roof console, hence the question on length.

Cheers.

So I lashed out and bought an autron egt and boost gauge, I am installing it and my question is this: the orange wire needs to be connected to an ignition wire that remains on while cranking the engine. Where would I find this?
Cheers.

I've considered this, however if I have my phone on the charge whilst cranking it over it lights up leading me to belive there is a cut in power monetarily. Whether or not this is absolutely critical I don't know.
Has anyone wired their autron gauge this way?.

If it says SRS on the pillar, then an airbag is there.

Hi Richard,
I got the pod from Autron when I got the gauges, it came in black and I sprayed it.
Just had a quick look at their website and it appears they don't sell direct to the public anymore.
