not sure if its just the nature of the beast or not but a get a fair bit of engine noise when sitting on around 2200rpm it is most noticable when driving around 100-105kpm, is this normal or could it be the lifters or something. does anyone else have the same thing?

Yeah I get it also. 2011 lux with 4500km. It has been there since I picked it up. I put a chip-it on at about 300km and it got slightly louder.
I'm not to fussed about it.

If you are talking about a Euro IV compliant diesel with a ticking noise that sounds like loose tappits, that is there when cruising or under acceleratation, disappears completely when you take your foot off, then yes mine does it too and is worse when cold. I am told it is a pilot injection noise and is normal .

Fairly complex job. What makes you want to mess with them? If you are taking from my earlier post, I said a ticking noise that sounds like loose tappits

you cant tighten your tappets, they run shims or tobe more accurate they are a specific sized buckets. And to add to that they dont get loose they wear the valve into the valve seat and close up the gap over time so they will one day if not checked hold the valve open slightly and not fully close.
they should be checked i think every 80k by the book but by about 120-150k km they will be out of spec.

mmmm with out having a drawing of this assembly in front of me ,I would think with a cam running on a bucket /cam design you will loose full valve lift as the bucket face or cam wears, cant see how the valve would not seal on its seat from worn buckets, it will get noisier as the bucket face wears away from the cam profiles due to the clearance it creates.......correct me if Im wrong.

SRd4d, you are correct in your thinking if it was the cam and bucket that would wear but they do not wear much if any. but like all engines the valves work there way furthure into the the valve seat as they are hammering the valve seat (this is the part the valve seals against)., this is why the gap will close up. see as the vale wears the valve seat it moves upwards. I Hope this helps to explain.
This is a common thing with many cars and more the case with cars running lpg. I know when are running diesel but it still happens. When i checked my clearances at 120k the gaps where all less than spec. NOT more.
