yes it can, you have now directed all exhaust flow out the turbo which can momentarily overboost the turbo. the ecu is ecpecting some exhaust to go through the egr

Yes, just take that plate off, and install a catch can. It's not worth all the drama.

The catch can doesn't fix the P2008 error code. Based on my own experiences + scrolling through this thread, it appears nothing does!

Don't give up hope as I have been down this long road!!!
My advise from what i have done to beat the 2008!! Is get your inlet manifold and egr cleaned does not need to be replaced. Check your fuel filter is clean or replace it. First two things and this should fix it. After that replace your maf and don't clean them all the time replace and leave it!
Only my two cents and from what I have found I beat the 2008!

Hi guys, needs some help

I'm currently 5 hours from home with camper trailer and family, packing up in the morning and my hilux (2009, dual cab sr) has now today got and engine light on, did the bridging two wires to read the flashes to decipher the fault code and is coming up as 105 which from the chart could be P2226, or P2228, or P2229, something about barometric pressure

Couple questions, anyone know what this could be?
And depending what this code means will it make the 5 hour journey home tomorrow loaded up with family and luggage and towing a little close to 2,000kg?

Thanking you in advance
A little stressed

That sensor is built into the ECU. Very rare that's for sure. Check your map filter is not cracked

Thanks mate, just half packed up camp and in bed for the night, will check that out first thing in the morning.
If it can not be rectified we will be hitting the road first thing in the morning and fingers crossed we make it all the way home to Sydney, if not we will work out a back up plan on the run

Though the fact that it is ultimately looking like an ecu replacement, would an upgrade to a hks system solve my problem? Or would the factory computer need to be replaced anyway?
Thanks

Never seen one fail man. I would use the correct scanner to verify the correct code. But cracked map filter or popped map hose will cause the same.

Swirl control valve or the intake manifold is fouled. To take off the intake manifold is an expensive process.

I have suffered the P 2006 code for some years now but have lived with it as it only happens on long uphill stretches when towing . Still extremely annoying and very dangerous if you are overtaking

Hi guys, I have been unfortunately blessed with a hilux with this p2008 fault. I have read through every comment and tested and cleaned everything with no success. The hilux I have is standard with no mods, the a/f meter has been cleaned and tested the intake temp sensor, the intake has no leaks, my turbo holds 15psi of boost and never creeps over, the egr is new, intake solenoid has been swapped of another car, I have tested every wire as per the Toyota fault sheet and everything checks out perfect.
This post is about 3 years old now so I'm really hoping someone has found a solution as it would help me out greatly!

Also my intake manilfold has minimum build up in it, it has full motion and moves freely when tested with a vacuum gauge

I know this post is old now but I would like to update my P2006 problem and another that I have come across .
First of all P 2006 is a mechanical determined fault , ie when the intake volume of air measured by the AFM is less than the volume estimated by the map sensor the ecm determines that the intake swirl control butterflies are stuck shut .
My case was a modified air box that upset the AFM reading ability however I have since found some (non genuine) air filters that become blocked to cause this too . (As does the most common being a dirty AFM )
These AFM,S are super sensitive to any intake problems . Ever wondered why Denso made a factory snorkel for the Hilux ?
Intake flow problems .
Boxhead always use to state that if you used a non genuine air filter in a 2.7 hilux the fuel consumption went way worse, again intake restriction.
Now for P 2008 , it is sometimes confused with P2006 but isn’t P2008 and electrical determined code ?
Someone got the list handy
Dave

Hi All
My first post on this site. New member tonight!
I have a September 2017 Hilux Dual Cab and the warning light has come on 5 times now only when towing up a long hill. Error code is P2006 (intake manifold runner control stuck closed bank 1). Toyota have checked it out on a few occasions and are saying that in fact it isn't stuck closed, its working as it should and are now saying the ECU has been altered. This has not been don! They are also telling me that this code is completely unique and they have no record of this code with any of the 1000's of Hiluxs on the road. Clearly that not the case having read previous posts.
Has anyone had success in resolving this problem?

Try the Gen8 thread, different engine/ecu in 05-15
