Fitting turbo to non turbo 3l

Hi,

I have noticed there are alot of standard Hilux turbo kits on ebay.

Can you just bolt one on to a non turbo 3L, or do you need to drop the compression in the motor?

Is it also just a case of changing the chip fot a turbo tune?

Do you mean the 3l motor as in 1990s model ? The 2.8 ? If so than yes there are heaps of off the shelf kits just bolt it on. Some kits come with a bigger exhaust, if it doesnt come with one get one. As for the chip there is no chip it's a mechanical fuel pump. So after fitting the kit and exhaust fit boost and egt gauges and get it dynod, they will adjust your fuel pressures and the boost and egt gauges let them keep the temp levels safe. That's what I did on my 5l motor the 3litre in my 98 model. The 3l motor works the same.

You will need a chip as well , I think Dp made chips , If you look under your bonet , you will see in red EFI.
