Picked up a exhaust system the other day and went to install it this morning.... all was going well until i got to removing the dump pipe...I had to go nd pick up some different tools off a mechanic friend of mine, and still couldn't get it off...

Ended up slipping and slicing my left index finger open on the edge of the heat shield ... spent 5hrs in hospital waiting room for stiches

Being a Dental Technician, Im now out of work for at least 3-4 days!!!

I guess i wouldn't mind some tips on getting the barsted nuts off???

Did you spray them with CRC or WD40 beforehand and let it soak in for a few hours?

Like Mick said, soak the studs with WD40, let it soad in for couple of hours and even spray multiple time. They shouldnt be too bad to get off than....

Have a read of this mate, your not the first one to have issues with it!

thats not a real suggestion...wd40 or some other type of chemical penetrant works a treat...i didnt have to on mine but i had a single hex socket and wobble bar extension from memory so mananged to get a good bite on the nut

Penitrine works better than wd40 I'd be buying a bottle of that. It actually breaks down the rust to free the nut.

thats the MANTEK one isnt it??? its very very good if its the one im thinking of...ROST OFF by WURTH is very good aswell

Another good product is ZEP im not sure who makes it but it has Teflon in it and would prolly cause mutilation after repeated exposure. however i think you can get it from repco if not plumbing shops might have it.

Thanx for all the advice... i did spray the shit out of all the nuts and bolts using WD40... but i guess ill have too keep applying over some time.

Tomorrow after work my mate who's the mechanic will come over nd get it off for me so i can drive it without turning too many heads

Definately going to have to invest in some hex sockets aswell...

Finally got it all done....

Had an absolute B!#$% of a time trying to get off one of the nuts i stripped... but all worked out good in the end...

Just took the ute for a spin around the block and im definately feeling the difference in power delivery....

ImVery Happy with my $700 purchase.
up next is a CHIP IT unit and im sure my grin will grow behind my ears!!!

What type of exhaust did you get mate?

the boilermaker from work has a 2009 patrol...he went to fit a zorst one night and removing one of the nuts off the turbo the thread picked up and stripped the thread off it...worse bit was to run a die nut over it you have to basically use a mirror to see it and you have to use mulitgrips o turn it 1/32 of a turn each time haha stupid nissans

I picked it up on ebay from SPEEDY Exhaust and Tow bars... i gave it a paint in some black engine paint and it looks gr8!!!

farely happy with the it.. a little rough around the edges but it works and no body see it anyway...cant go wrong for $700
