Undo the bolt that holds this angle hose in position, on the cylinder head cover.

Image

12mm, and they can be tight.

Image

Image

Remove the elbow hose.
At this point, I would like to say that I always leave the steel pipe in place. The reason for this is that it has to deal with the heat coming off the exhaust manifold and turbo. For this reason, I don't run the hose straight to the turbo inlet.

Image

Cut the elbow hose at the bottom end, where the writing is.

Now clamp using a suitable hose clamp, in this position.

Image

Using a straight 15.9mm barb, install it into the other side of the elbow hose.

Image

Clamp with a suitable hose clamp, in position, as shown.
Install the hose into the other hose barb that comes out of the cylinder head cover.
Note, I always use some silicone grease to lube up the hose so it's easier to push on.
The hose, well, it can be hard to get. You want the specially made Gates hose for emissions.
If you live in Brisbane, go and see Phil down at Pirtek, in Springwood. He can now supply you with everything you need to do this job. The catch can and all.
I have put this up here for two reasons. One, one stop shop, and two, Phil is a good bloke and deserves the business.
Members need to know where they can get supplies to do the job.
Note, you can get hose clamps that don't have a long tags, I just haven't been able to buy them, at the time of doing this job.

Image

Take out the harness connector, a plastic tag, and drill a 11mm hole in this position, for the M8 nutsert.

Image

Image

Nutsert machine.
In Brisbane, you can buy this tool from Tool City, in a kit form.
When you have got one, you will find heaps of uses for them.
Insert an M8 nutsert into the machine and install it into the hole. Make sure you always clamp the nutserts tight.
They are a bugger to get out, if you clamp them loose.

Image

Put some of this stuff into the nutsert, with the bolt. Just work it in.

Image

Now install the catch can in position, making sure the bonnet isn't going to touch the catch can.
Note, there is not much room in this position, so just make sure you get this right. You can place a bit of blue tack on the highest point. If it sticks to the bonnet, you know your position needs to come down at the front position.

Image

Once you have your position, tighten the bolt so the catch can will not move.
With a punch, mark the middle of the hole. Make sure you get this right, otherwise the nutsert will be out of position.
Remove the catch can and locate the mark. Punch the mark with a Punch making sure that the punch mark is deeper enough so the drill bit will not slip.
Using a 10.5mm drill bit, drill the hole, then install an M8 nutsert in position. Coat the thread with Copper Eze.

Image

Time to install the hoses and tire back in some areas of the hoses. Install the 12mm bolt back into position.
Install a tire like in the photograph above.
Note, you don't really need a clamp on the barb that comes out of the cylinder head cover, it's all low pressure.

Image

Cut the hoses in position, and then heat shrink them with 25mm heat shrink, like in the photograph.

Image

Image

Tighten the bolts fro the catch can.

Image

Your hose direction should look something like this.
Install the intercooler and reconnect the negative terminal on the battery.
You will have to do the initialization procedure. The window thing, because you have taken off the negative terminal.
Job done, now go and have a beer or two.

I did forget to mention, the hose at the bottom of the catch can.

Image

Image

Just cut it off to the length that you want and fit an air tap like this one.
Hope some members get some benefits out of these posts.
Catch you later, John.

The MH Provent 200 is probably better for these vehicles. It has a bigger capacity.

Hey ss - is that all oil or some condensation water? A bit hard to tell by the pic but looks like the opaque white below the cable tie is oil mixed in water?

I fitted my HPD catchcan on the weekend and ran the hoses the way The Roo showed (Head-Top and Turbo-Bottom), afterwards when I looked at the pictures supplied they ran them the other way around. I couldn't see anything majorly different whatever way it is but if someone with more knowledge can let me know if I should change it around.
Thanks

Roo's thread was for a provent.
Hpd outlet it the top one, top/outlet goes to turbocharger inlet.

Does it matter which hose goes where though?
I have a feeling I have my Provent plumbed up the other wat to Roo, but it still seems to work. Might have to go check now..
