I have a new to me 2007 Hilux with the 2KD engine. There are loads of posts complaining about the dreaded piston crack issue, and the leaking injector seats causing clogged oil pickups. I have new injector seats and a seal kit, will be replacing in the near future, have checked the injectors with Techstream, and they are all within spec, and have replaced the fuel filter. Is there anything else that should be done specific to the D4D to safeguard this engine? Currently has 70k on the clock.
Also, did the 2KD suffer from the same piston crack issues as the 1KD?
