Where can I buy a passenger side cup holder?

Postby Burnsy180 on Wed, 16 Mar 2011 12:48 +0000

Hey guys, Ive just bought a 2006 sr5 4x4 and I've noticed the passenger aide cup holder is just a blanking plate.
Any idea of any online stores or anywhere anyone knows of that I could get myself one?

Cheers fellas

I just got one from the wreckers in Adelaide, paided $25 for it. Now they are tricky to put in, but a little thinking and half an hour later all done. But it did help that I took it out off the hilux at the wreckers, also grabbed its 12volt plug and put that in across from the other one hooked up to the duel batt, full time power.

Best drink holder I've seen. Keeps the stubbies nice and cool in front of the aircon vent! :D

15 0 20 minutes... with the glove box out of the way.... sounds like its a bit detailed....

I'm trying to get the driver's side one out.... no chance of pulling off the 'glove box' on that side.....

I have managed to get the cover off - there are two tangs which hold that on... but the drawer and frame......
All I can gather at present is that there are a number of rear mounted screws - the top one I can feel... but any more on the bottom are hidden behind the lower dash cover - that runs the entire width from door to centre console.....

Anyone pulled one of these out yet.....? and please let the forum know the procedure.....

One screw at the top and 2 on the bottom, very hard to get out, most off the dash on drivers side gets pulled out to get those 2 screws

Thanks Steve,
this is what I believed would be necessary.....

Cunning plan at present - remove top screw from rear.
Drill/create two holes through the lower dash panel from behind where the other two are located and leave holes (unseen) for later re-fit of drink holder if selling vehicle.....

I do not believe a drill can be manoevered into position - but a Dremel or right angled miniature engraving tool should fit...... the sub dash panel is plastic - it won't take too much to break through..

Anyone know the distances between the lower screws and also the height down from the top one........?
- perhaps I'll just have to probe through with a small engraver until I "strike" gold.........

Plan "B" is to remove the two hex screws at the right hand end of the sub panel and pull/bend it down gently out of the way to access holder screws....

Any thoughts?

my hilux originally had no passenger side cup holder.
my mate had to hire a ute.
i told him to make it a hilux.
so we did the cup holder / blank plate switcheroo.

i only had limited time to do this before he had to send the hire car back, so i practiced quickly on the hire car then installed mine carefully. this happened about a year ago so i cant quite remember exactly how it was done, but i definitely didn't drill holes and it really wasn't that hard to do.

don't steal.

I installed a cup holder on the passenger side of my 2006 yesterday and had it done in about 15 minutes. I just removed the air vent above the cup holder, pulled out the glove box and popped the dash out just enough to get to the bottom two screws. easy as.

I bought a cheap Thailand knock off L/H cup holder. Its shit quality and not the right colour.
I hit up Toyota and got genuine one. Expensive, but im happy.
