P1251 Fault Code

Postby AC1981 on Sun, 02 Aug 2020 11:15 +0000

Has anyone got to the bottom of what the issue is when the car goes into limp mode with the P1251 Fault code? I've read numerous posts with so many different opinions.

My car does it at highway speeds on the flat just cruising. It did it for the first time a few months back and I disconnected the battery and it was fine again for another 5000km, now it has happened to me twice in a week. The first time it happened the car was all stock apart from the EGR bypass leads you get from ebay ( this has been on the car for 20000km) the second and third time it has happened was 3 weeks after fitting a Beaudesert 2.75" exhaust but it still happens when on the highway.
I have cleaned the MAF sensor and MAP filter and the car performs better now but still has this issue

Would be good to hear peoples experiences and solutions to this

Short answer is no but modifications, wear and moisture are known to play a role in triggering the code.
