I've stopped taking it to Toyota because they were charging me $90/hr. It has so far cost me 1k for them to look at it with no results!!! Might just get rid of the piece of sh#t!!!

sorry to hear about all your troubles smaca

thats BS they keep charging you and they cant find the problem have you tried a diesel specilist place? I would try contacting consumer affairs to see if you can recoup some costs because of your getting no joy from toyota.

cheers Troy

Latest update....

Took the Lux to Rankin Diesel and they told me that my 1st injector is screwed and the 2nd is on its way out. They recommend replacing all four. They said that this problem could be causing the P1251 error but cant look into that until the injectors are fixed first! :(

Got the injectors replaced and the Lux has been running like a dream since. On the weekend, I replaced the standard exhaust with the 3inch Humex I originally took off and I'm now getting the P1251Error again!
Could the 3inch exhaust be causing this???

Do you still have the cat convertor on the exhaust or have you removed it? I heard removing the cat could trigger this.

Did you finally get anywhere with this problem smaca? Any difference after you got the injectors sorted?

No, its still randomly going into limp mode. Funny thing is it started doing it again after i put the 3inch exhaust back on. Cat converter is on the exhaust.

Don't know where to go from here, i've tried everything! One thing I did notice yesterday is I have coolant sprayed all over my timing belt cover, so I'm assuming my water pump is leaking. I'll going to replace it. Don't know if that has anything to do with it going into limp mode.

Cheers

Damn thats gota suck! Tried the EGR cleaning procedure thats got its own thread somewhere on here? Lots of members have reported their trucks running alot better after doing it and it is part of the turbo system so it could all be linked. I did a google search on this error code and it has been solved over in europe by cleaning/replacing the egr unit that comes off the turbo housing...

I've replaced the egr and It's still going into limp mode. My egr is located near the firewall, opposite end from the turbo.

computer...gotta be the computer...i work on cranes for a living...and on FRANNAS which run a 906 merc when they have problems ie rough idle or down on power we call MTU DETROIT DIESEL who are the mercedes techs...the solutions ive being witness to for engine faults are dead injector modules, loosed connections on injector modules (these engine are common rail), dodgey connections on computer plug or the computer has failed or glitched somehow, the most interesting one is transmission computer glitch as the tranny computer and the engine computer are able to 'talk' to each other apparently...hope this helps..

cheers

The cats might be high flow cats on the new exhaust which may also throw an error, that might be why it works fine with the standard exhaust.
