Same Wheel Studs

Postby darmo on Sat, 29 May 2010 6:33 +0000

Hi guys,

Had a search around and couldnt find anything on this one. Are the wheel studs the same on a new hilux compared to the nissan navara d40? Reason im asking is we are going to Alice Springs next week for 3 weeks and my Mrs parent have the navara. We both have a full size spare each but were wondering if we could interchange in an emergency.

I realise that long term it would be no good running my 265 70 R16 on his ute if his running 255 70 R16 but for the purpose of an emergency i think we should be ok.

Thanks in advance for yor feed back.

Darmo,
PCD is the same but the off set is different. They won't interchange. If you get really paranoid I have spare rims for both vehicles you could borrow. PM if needed.

In an emergency situation you could use each others rims, but as camwillsaid they are different offset so they will place different loads on your wheel bearings. Having said that, if your stuck in th ebush or 50Km from town and only have the Tyre and rim from a navara, you could use it and get away for the short term.

Yeh as Tomuch said, but you will have an issue with the nissan rim on the hilux as I don't think you will have any steering at all. The off set is just to much. Give it a go at home before you leave and see what the go is. Thats the best way to see if it works, have a go.

I think you guys have it wrong- the PCD for the d40

The Navara is a 136.6mm and the Hilux (and other 6 stud rims) are 139mm

So while they look the same (6 stud) the navara D40 rims will not fit onto the wheel studs- regardless of offset differences.

Selwyn,
You may be correct, the navara rims I have are off a D22 and are the same PCD as my hilux. Not sure about the D40, just thought they were the same.
