Is this a good price for a new lux?

Postby NMK on Wed, 11 Apr 2007 4:26 +0000

I have just been quoted $53650 for a SR5 disel hilux with an ARB HiLux deluxe winch bull bar with fog lights, towbar and ARB canopy. This is the drive away price.

Is this a good price?

NMK, I paid $46 for my SR D4D with the same stuff. Only thing different is i didn't get a canopy but did spend $2200 in a dropside tray so prolly close comparison???

so if i do my maths then u are paying nearly 8k more for a SR5. Sounds to me like a good deal but not the best.

Yep, this would only be a good deal if it was an '07 model. Mine was an '06 model but contract was sighed in Dec '05, did wait a month though.

Is it a D4D?

Oh i expect you're getting a twin cab, mine was an Xtra cab cab/chassis which prolly blows this comparison out further than it started.

Hi NMK,
Give Neil at John Obrien toyota a ring as my 06 SR5 D/C D4D Auto was $48k on the road with extras. I live on the Gold Coast and he delivered it to me at work.

Only issue was the tounea cover and that ended up being toyota playing games trying to get rid of old stock.

Have a go what can you loose.

It all depends on if they need the numbers for that month as to who has the best deal. One month he will be cheap the next it will be someone else. Hope you catch him on a bad month for his numbers and you might get a bargin.

And no I don't get a commission or spoters fee. I just liked the good country service and the no Bull approach.

One phone call got his best price, not this "i'll go see the boss bull%#^&@".

Know exactly what you want then ring.

Good Luck.
Regards,
Camwill69

What else is in that price? ie rust protection, paint protection seat covers, tinted windows etc?? As Camwill69 says push em hard, they always have more to play with then they let on, and always get prices from other dealers but be smart about how you use it! also check out any discounts you may get through super funds or if you're affilliated with any union, as you'd be amazed at what deals they can get for you.

Yea it’s a 2007 dual cab. $47,191 plus on road which makes it $53650.

I just called another local dealer and got quoted $62,000 drive away and that was just with the standard Toyota bull bar and canopy, not the arb gear.

The thing is I’m only 20 and they don't really take me seriously. Most of the dealers haven't even got back to me.

i had the same problem, went into a dealer and said look want this this this etc,. and they said ok no prob ill get back to you on monday (was a friday), 2 weeks later they still had not got back to me. so i took my buisness elsewhere and they took me seriously from the get go and did everything they could to get me the deal i wanted. was very happy in the end.

Onroads seem alot in that aswell, but i guess it depends on the state aswell.
i had $2000 or so for dealer delivery, and about $1000 for stamp duty and 12months rego.

just be prepared to wait at least a month for the D4D, mine came off the boat a week before i got it, and was still sitting at the docks 2 days before because of how busy they are transporting them around.

I ended up paying $49k drive away( sorta drive away been waiting a month so far) for a 07 sr5 Dc d4d Auto. Most prices were around 53-55.

I didn`t get any extras just wanted to keep price as low as possible for stamp duty. Extras will come later

Be sure to look into whether you can get a ABN discount (if you hold an ABN!) and also consider the GST rebate that may be applicable. You will need to be GST registered and be on the "Accruals" system not the "cash" system. Difference being with the accruals system you can get one eleventh of the purchase price back straight away, whereas with the cash system you can only claim the GST each month on your lease payments, much slower! Every bit counts...Don't give the taxman any more than you need to!
If you can claim both of these you will save around $6500 straight off the top of $45K car.

Got mine for $49k from a dealer near Melbourne. An 11/06 model with new factory bullbar and spotties, tow bar, tint and tub liner. I then got an unregistered permit and drove it home to Toowoomba. I saved $1100 just on stamp duty by registering it in Qld as opposed to Vic.
I must also add that it had 850 km on it when I got it (Ex Managing Director of dealership car). Saved a good several of grand for just 850 km of use.

Cheers....Daniel
