Hi all

General discussion of basically anything Hilux related

Hi all

Hey ppl new here(thanks norm for telling me about the site) and to the hilux thing.
I am buying a new sr5 auto and tossing up between petrol and diesel. Is servicing 5k on diesel and 10k on petrol still? People all seem to end up chipping there diesels so are they lacking in power still?
Thanks for any advice or tips

Cheers
Stu

Hi Stu and welcome.
I think the owners manual for the diesel Hilux says service at 10,000 KM (but I could be wrong). I service mine at 5,000 KM anyway. Toyota does the major 10,000 service. I do the minor 5,000 myself. Just change the oil and filter.

When we got our new D4D, we were amazed with the power and thought it drove like a petrol. The only time we became less than delighted was when we loaded it up (and we carry a serious load). This is why we have chipped and will soon add a mandrel exhaust.

I think a lot of people add a chip because they can, not because it is necessary. Nothing wrong with that though.

Hi Stu-K,
Waited 12 weeks for mine . Ordered it in Aug 2006 and got it in dec.

Worth the wait though. The D4D Auto is great and power is not an issue.

Fuel economy is great, check out the forum page on this to see some figures.

Regards,

Well orderd the new lux today they tell me its a 4 to 6 week wait. Already know the first mod.... giving it some leg room, it may have enough for the 5 foot japs but not my 6' 4 build.
Anyone done it.....any tricks,ideas?

Cheers Stu
