Morning Guys,

My hilux surf was running fine until recently when a constant fluctuating humming noise started on start-up. It only stays until the car is running for around 5-10 minutes, i cant seem to find the issue and its driving me nuts!!

Its a 1996 Toyota Surf with a 4cyl 3RZ engine.

The v6 I had years ago it had a noise from memory much the same try changing the belts or try putting move tension on
All so to track the noise mix same water and wash up soap and spray it on the belt to see if the noise changes.

Thanks mate, whilst doing a tension check like you said I noticed the top radiator hose was under negative pressure. I'm assuming it's the water pump pulley bearing that's been worn out and now producing this whining sound with the lack of water flow due to vacuum.

Will post my findings after I replace the pump so it helps someone else!
