Lifting hilux with bottle jack.

Postby RookieHilux on Mon, 10 Oct 2022 4:59 +0000

Hello guys, its my first time changing tires on my hilux, going to lift it with stock bottle jack, as theres nothing else available right now.

Im wondering should there be a groove where the bottle jack fits on the rear axle housing? and also would appreciate some photos or tips about the whole lifting procedure. :)

I usually try to get mine between the 4 bolt / nuts in the spring hanger plate to reduce the chance of slipping. On occasion however I have placed it under the axel housing just inside the plates because the terrain makes getting a secure base difficult.
I'd actually like to get my hands on a High-Lift, but I gather they're like hens teeth these days???

How about placement of axle stands while lifting with a stock bottle jack, can i place em on the rear axle housing, just a little bit more center from Jacking point, or is there a better spot.

Keep your stands as far apart as possible helps keep the car steady

"At the other end of the vehicle." ie. If raising the rear then chock the front wheels and vice versa.
