Broken glovebox hinge SR5

Hi everyone, need some help please, I have a broken glovebox hinge , not on the glovebox lid but the part on top with dash,
The lid won’t close,
Toyota told me I had to buy top of dash also with glove box hinge part, price $800, what a lot of crap ,
Tried the wreckers and other shops in town with no luck,
Any ideas apart from spending $800.

Having bloody trouble downloading photos.
It’s just the glove box fitted lock part , not on lid but where lid connects to .

Could try letting the wreckers put the word around to other wreckers on their network ... or search on google, there might be some aftermarket solution?
What's the damage? can it be repaired with a small plastic weld? I've done a couple of jobs with a soldering iron and some cable ties. Don't always look pretty but it works well.
Just a few ideas for you.

I’ve contacted the wreckers, just waiting to hear back from them,
If it was the glovebox lid latch damaged that’s easily fixed but on the dash latch is a bigger problem.

Another idea is to temporarily disable the spring that holds it open until you sort out a better solution.

Is the broken part the plastic where the latch screws on and holds the glove box closed.
I don't know how handy you are you could made a new mounting bracket and fix it to the sides and top.
Not sure what is behind the plastic.
