Hi Guys,
I've searched on here but can't find anything relating to my exact problem.
Having trouble with sticky key not turning igniton on so want to remove ignition barrel for repair/replace.
Have got to the stage where you put key in Acc position and push pin to release barrel from housing.
The barrel moves about 10mm out of housing and then locks solid.
Is there a second pin or something else I need to do here to remove the barrel completely.
Vehicle is 2008 v6 auto 2x4 SR.

I'd take it in to the local Locksmith, he / she will know how to get it out. They're likely to be doing the repairs or have a replacement in stock anyway. Calling them out to you will cost a bit extra, that's why you take it to them.
Many lock barrels have a retainer of some sort at the bottom of the barrel, if this is the case it will likely mean (somehow) getting to the "other end" of the barrel which in your case will mean either removing the whole cylinder or maybe even pulling the whole steering column apart.

Yea I'll have to take it to a locksmith for sure.
But I was hoping to just remove the barrel from the housing.
Looks a pain to remove the whole assembly is all. Thought someone might have had the same problem and found a fix.
All older vehicles I've done just had the one pin to push and it slides straight out of the housing.
Just keep trying I guess.

The older vehicles I've done were mounted on the dash, just unplug it and then unscrew the whole thing out of the dash.
The Steering Column is a whole different ball of wax.
The other thing to remember is that if it is warn, yes, a lot of the time it's the barrel that wears, but it is just as possible that the cylinder is the worn component. Just a thought.

Yea, well ended up calling a locksmith out as suggested.
There is a second locking mechanism that needs to be activated. (mine was damaged)
Locksmith and specialist tools got it sorted.
They repaired the barrel. (worn wafers) And fixed the damaged locking mechanism.
All good now.
