Hi guys, first of all thank you for your posts as it convinced me to change my injectors, unfortunately this did not fix my rattle issue.
I had the car from 150xxxkm and around 160xxxkm it started the rattle, performance was really low and fuel economy was anything upwards from 15-16L p\h
I got the manifold cleaned, egr deleted, intercooler cleaned, installed catch can, installed 3” exhaust, installed snorkel , k&n airfilter and tuned it. Mileage got a lot better but the rattle still persisted, I changed my injectors to new updated denso ones and the rattle seemed to be better but not gone.
About 6000km later the rattle started getting worse, I serviced my car last week and did fuel filter as well and since then it’s been how it used to be

Sometimes the rattle would not be there at all and out of nowhere it comes back and drops in performance and fuel economy are present...

My car does 500-550km to tank on freeway and city and sometimes driving same roads I could get 700km and drives a lot nicer and smoother without rattle.
It feels very inconsistent and even on freeway my car would sit 2000rpm chewing 11L/100, same road conditions ect for some reason it loses performance and climbs to 2500rpm and sits on 16L/100

I’ve noticed the louder the rattle/more present the lower my fuel economy and performance is.

I thought injectors would fix my issue but it hasn’t, to be honest it’s done bugger all and I spent a good 2.5k

Any other culprits or reason why my car does this?

Lets start with the basics, Ditch the K&N filter as the oil will be covering the MAF, Clean it with the correct cleaner, Inspect the Map filter for cracks and also clean it, Both topics can be searched on here.

I would also be looking into the new longer body SCV. Again search is your friend.

If I change my map sensor could that be a good thing to do?
Also I did the air filter sensor too it was fine. I will later on today inspect my map filter and send a video of sound and condition of everything

No point changing parts and guessing. Have a good read over how to clean the Maf correctly.
Have you got an external boost gauge inline with the MAP?

Alright so I opened air box and changed k&n filter back to factory air filter and noticed heaps of oil going into intake, I cleaned maf very gently with a tissue it was slightly grey with a bit of carbon build up it’s been a lot worse before.

I took out the map sensor and it was full of oil, I just blew most of it out and put it back in and degreased and washed the outside of that side of engine

For first minute of driving the rattle was still present, after a minute the rattle started to go and is much better now (touch wood only driven for 10 mins) I’ll need to drive more to get better indication

so have I damaged my maf using a tissue or is it ok?

And is it normal for there to be a slight rattle sound

Lesson learned.... Note to self, dont use K&N filter!

Get a can of MAF cleaner and clean the inner and outer wires of the maf. Do not use anything else.
