How to value or sell a Hilux

All

I’m looking to order a new Ram 1500 this week for delivery later this year, so the old Hilux will be moving on.

Just looking for opinions on what to ask and where to advertise? It’s not your typical Hilux so hard to judge:

2011 SR5 V6 auto dual cab. 168000km. White.
TRD supercharged.
Beaudesert exhaust, 2.25” from extractors back.
XEDE processor.
Fully rebuilt to HD specs A750F auto with Wholesale Autos valve body and large external cooler.
Wholesale lockup converter kit.
338mm TRD rotors, calipers and backing plates. Has an upgraded double diaphragm brake booster.
Ultimate 50mm lift, just had new rear springs fitted with new U-bolts as I cracked a leaf.
17x7.5 black Speedy Grande rims (all 5) with 265/65/17 Toyo AT2.
Dual battery setup under the bonnet with solar panel on canopy and Victron solar MPPT controller.
Caddy systems work style canopy with full wing doors.
Eclipse AVN726EA satnav in dash with reversing camera (dealer fitted new).
Cheaper Bullbar with Dyema rope winch.
Projecta electric brake controller.
2500kg towbar off a 2012-15.
Tinted glass.
Full service history since day dot.

It currently has a Recaro Ergomed drivers seat and a sunglass holder mounted GME remote face UHF but I’ll probably keep these and refit the original bits (straight bolt back in). The original drivers seat had a sheep skin cover since new.

Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated!

No idea how to help you achieve your goals, but as a pensioner paying off a mortgage and feeding a wife and daughter ... I can offer you my 2004 Hilux plus $50. :?

Just had a thought ... Check out what it's worth as a trade in?

You can go on the websites such as Carsales, Red Book, Glass Guide etc and get valuations for both trade ins and private sale - and, sadly, all the extras don't really add much to the price you'll get.

That’s why I asked as it’s hard to value as I can’t see anything close to compare. No point trying to trade it, the Ram dealer has no interest. There will be someone interested, just scratching my head how to advertise it where they might be! Maybe a toe in the water on Gumtree where it is free to advertise and ask for EOI?

Figure out from Carsales etc how much it is worth without any extras.

Add $10k or $15k to that price and advertise.

If it is too much no one will want it.

Keep lowering the price until it is sold.

It is only worth as much as anyone is willing to pay for it, regardless of the extras.

Extras are irrelevant, not sure why the focus on them! The question was how to value and advertise it as it isn’t a run of the mill example. I only listed them to show it’s not normal.

Without the extras it would just be normal and run of the mill.

Other than the extras what makes it so extraordinary?

Nothing. That is the whole point! It’s not a car easily traded or valued. So far all I’ve been told by dealers is they don’t wan’t it and it’ll sell easily but have no idea what it’s worth. If it was dead standard it is easy to work out. I don’t know if it’s a $10,000 car or a $30,000 car and I don’t know where to advertise it hence my request on opinions of where to list it and any suggestions as to how much to list it for.

Well it's definitely not a $10k vehicle and I would shoot for $30+ and see if you get any bites ;) since it's not a trd but has more than a trd, start with the trd red-book and see how it goes. Its a special vehicle and no doubt it will attract someone looking for something out of the ordinary. Imagine it's a 1970 corvette, special vehicle, special price and special buyer! Good luck and be prepared to wait for the true buyer and not the tyre-kickers. ;)

Here's an earlier one for 35k

Thanks Gipsy. It will be a balancing act I think, ask enough to get some attention and not too low to avoid idiots which is something I hadn’t really though hard about. The last thing I want to do is deal with idiots and time wasters.

Mate, if it's anything like selling an unusual house, one agent I used had my property for sale for over a year, and kept telling me to reduce the price. Then I changed agents, he added 40k to the price and sold it in a week. Its not always the price, it's about finding someone who wants it. ;)
Try gumtree or eBay and talk up the trd+ identity and make it special and not just another Hilux!

Carsales does actually have a calculator for used sales, it's based on recent sales numbers, and is usually significantly higher than the Redbook used value. Last time I used it, I got a value of $22k, while Redbook says $13k.

No mate, not a mod, but yes I don't fancy cleaning and polishing someone else's pride and joy so they can take credit. Mine's all my own work ;) and they're all clean and shiny and 11yrs old for little Lola.
Also note the location... London, bit far to commute for me

I guess my attempted "subtle" Cheech & Chong reference fell on deaf ears ... either that or I was just too subtle.

Either way, doesn't matter, not important. My attempts at humour don't hit the mark as they once did, not to worry.
