Clutch blown, sore balls, need help!

Postby holyman_999 on Fri, 17 Jul 2020 4:03 +0000

G'day all, been a long time lurker, and always found great info on here (and quite a few laughs in between the technical stuff!).

Currently facing the following dilemma;

I'm laid up in bed after a vasectomy reversal. The drugs are good, but the pain: not so good...

Wife took the Hilux to grab the kid from the train station and I received the phone call we all dread - "it just stopped working"

Pretty sure the clutch has let go. It's on about 150K, had a little slipping in 5th at super low revs once or twice.

I'd usually break out the overalls and spanners, search this forum for a rough guide and any pitfalls, and start getting dirty in the driveway, but in my current state all I can really manage is walking like a cowboy, whincing like a girl, and going back to bed to watch Netflix while applying an ice pack... Such is life!

I'm in the Narellan area in Sydney.

First port of call when they open today will be Ultimate Suspension, just wanted to ask if there are any locals that know of any other options around the area (in case they're too busy/booked out/can't source parts/etc)?

It's our only set of wheels, and I need it back on the road as soon as possible.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any input, good or bad, and feel free to laugh at my predicament - I'm sure I'll find it funny when it no longer feels like I've been hit in the crotch with a baseball bat!

Mate, all I can say is you shoulda got your clutch fixed before you got yer nuts fixed!
I bet your misses might make them even worse when she gets home from the breakdown
I guess the lesson to take home from this is think before you act and you may avoid getting the baseball bat to the groin!
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

Thanks for the replies, all (even you cheeky f$@#&%!)

Managed to get onto a local guy that has a workshop and could squeeze me in.

Had a mate take it to him on the trailer this morning, should have it back Monday Arvo.

Going with an Exedy HD kit. Was looking at the 4terrain/Ultimate jobbie, but didn't have the time/potential funds.

The old girl should be good to get out on the tracks again once I can manage a speedbump in the Macca's drive through without producing tears!
