Stone stomper exhaust mod

Just a quick question to those running a stone stomper on a diesel. Is the exhaust mod essential and if so how did you go about it?

Mines a Gen 8 and I had a short bend made up and clamp it onto the end of the pipe when the stomper is on.
I cut the bend flush with the lower level of the pipe so it just curves down from the top a little but doesn't hang down or restrict the volume and it simply deflects the gas downward below the flap.

Only takes a minute or two to attach or remove and never had any issues.

I've been driving an SR5 and stonestomper for 10 years, apart from a little carbon on the canvas section never seen any need to deflect the exhaust away from it. Not essential or indeed even necessary.
