Clicking noise in engine bay

Postby Kpetrie on Sun, 28 Apr 2019 11:48 +0000

Did an oil change on my 2013 Sr hilux diesel and now got a loud click noise when the engine is turned off, about 2 mins after.

Does it sound like the exhaust making a click? Mine does it every now and then. It's been discussed here a bit in the past.
I might be wrong.

Get someone to turn the ignition off for you, while you try and listen to the turbo stepper motor. That usually ticks for a few seconds, but not minutes. Just try it and see. Eliminate one thing at a time, eh.

Sounds very much like mine......I tracked mine down to the exhaust where it bolts onto the turbo. As it cools, it clicks a few times. There's no point lubricating the joint......extreme heat at that point would cause serious issues.
Let me know if you find a solution.....or rather a remedy.
