It appears that my clock spring in my 2012 sr5 has shat itself, the horn stopped working but still works when the wheels are turned.
Wasnt there a recall on these a few years ago??
Spoke to the local toyota dealership and they want just over $1k for a replacement..
Any ideas on getting a replacement part cheaper?

I had to pay 100% labour and 50% on the part itself. Some saving is better than nothing.
BUT BEWARE!!!
Check your VIN number and the part!!! There were two different clock springs to suit my car, it come down to one digit in the part number. One was $200, and the other was $600 from memory. You can fit the cheaper one, but it may not work. And of course, it is an electrcial item, no credit.
SC162 wrote:Try using the words "out of warranty repair", my old '05 model had the clockspring go before it became a recall item, toyota dealer quoted my around $800, rang back two days later after reading online that others had it repaired and asked if they had heard of doing it as an out of warranty repair. Right then and there she booked me in for the following week, $800 saved. Did annoy me that they were prepared to charge me that much money when they knew full well they could do it for free
