where to put Gauges on SR5 w/Airbag? What Gauges to have?

Postby TBJ on Sun, 03 Feb 2019 6:46 +0000

So I've been thinking and I want to put some aftermarket gauges on my Lux, sadly however I've got my SR5 with Side curtain airbags, now after using the search function it seems that I can't use Piller Pods with these, now has anyone recently made a side curtain airbag compatible piller pod unit or is it still out of the question like I thought, these guys say they're suitable for both airbag and non-airbag https://www.offroadcentral.com.au/saas-4wd-gauge-pillar-mount? if so where else is there to put some gauges? and if you have some pics of where you mounted your gauges that would be awesome. Now also what gauges should I have, I was thinking 2 dual gauges Boost/Egt and Water Temp/Oil Temp, what do you guys think is that good or should I put different ones in?
thanks

They fit in the pockets either side of the radio.

Try using the search. Pillar mounts dont affect airbags apparently

I was in the same boat as you TBJ.
I ended up mounting a gauge down with my switches.

I don't really want to fill the space as I actually use them for storage, but if its the only option I guess.

I did and people seem very divided about it and was wondering if it had been cleared up and confirmed as I really don't want a few gauges to my head in a crash.

I like it but my only problem is where to put the other one?

Have a look at FlexPod Gauge Mounts on the web, I think they are an American brand; they make a mount that I understand fits the Hilux. I went with mounting my RedArc dual battery gauge using the RedArc mount that goes into the holes at the side of the stereo (the mount needs to be cut down a bit for the later in the series (i.e. 2011 to 2015) but it works well.
