trip meter real time fuel usage meter in dash

Postby mechanicoutbackandy on Mon, 03 Dec 2018 4:25 +0000

Team,

recently did an egr/intake clean ( 1 of many i have done) only this one now is reading 50 plus liters/100 on the real time trip meter in the dash, after going back over my work several times and spending hours reviewing tech data manual i am still at a loss as to the reason why just of idle ( 1500rpm) the meter is reading a real time value of plus 50/100km...naturally it changes with the tps position, car is also showing only 8 pound boost even under full load at 100kmhr... Thanks in advance for any help

From cold? The ECU boosts fuel when warming up. How is the average l/100k? Boost looks low.
Cheers Gipsy :D although I'm sure somebody will challenge that  even Einstein wasn't certain of his theories.

both cold and hot, even if I slowly accelerate from a standing start ( say traffic lights) the fuel usage meter reads well up into 60l/100 then settles down after a minute or two, yes I agree boost is low, 8 /9 pound is the maximum i can get out of it. I have been over the car a 4th time now and I still am unable to locate the issue of why low boost and high trip meter are showing weird readings. the car will make 100kmhr, in 5th gear at 100kmhr the boost gauge is reading 3 or 4 pounds, it's not blowing any smoke, I have done an ECM reset, even went as far as pulling the air cleaner out and went for a drive, got the same readings. I am stumped.

Sounds like a turbo problem :( The ecu is trying to make up the throttle demand by upping the fuel expecting to get boost to go with it.
