2012 SR5 doesn't detect USB stick

Postby Ragingboner on Mon, 16 Apr 2018 4:16 +0000

I have a 16gb USB stick. Put a few MP3 tracks on there and plugged it in though it doesn't detect the USB. I tried formatting the USB in Fat32 and NTFS and still doesn't detect it.

Is there a limit on the size of USB stick you can use?

My 32gb stick works fine fat32

You may need to reduce levels of folders because the head unit has limited level readings. I keep only folders of the album's and no sub folders!

G'Day RB

I have never tried this, but I would think it would only work with FAT, NTFS has security and lots of other 'stuff' you need Active Dir. 'AD' server to get to work.

Did you format with Hilux or PC ?

I don't have any folders. All tracks are just on the USB. Does that cause an issue?

Sorry guys but I just checked the manual for the head unit and it can only read 8gb and fat32. Should have checked but trusted the old analogue memory :? You can also use a CD with the mp3 files, I fit up to 16 albums on a cd ;) mp3, WMA, wav, aac files should also work.
