Interesting technical challenge, but of absolutely no value whatsoever in a 1KD, unless you want to put the engine in a racing car, which would be equally without value.
The only reason I ask is I'm in the middle of a rebuild & im having trouble sourcing new drive gears for them. I've heard of people running these engines without them due to the fact it has only the one oil inlet which then has to travel forward in the shaft while it spins causing malfunctions like mine it's got 150000kms and spat the centre bearing due to a flat spot.
Pretty much what i've gathered is that you need to block the oil gallery that supplies to the balance shafts, Remove the bearings and shaft. And block the hole where the shaft also goes into.
