Ok, I've been in contact with Wolf 4x4 and enquired about a Group buy on a Runva 11xp Wolf 4x4 edition, I'm just waiting on a price and how many people we would need to get it for that price.

Who would be interested?? Just so I could go back to them with a figure.

Cheers,

Marek.

I haven't heard anything about the runvas until now but I'm due for a new winch they seem cheap and it says lifetime warranty has anybody had any problems? My last winch was a warn magnum which I wouldn't recommend.

Which Winch?

Postby Mulder030 on Fri, 15 Jun 2018 6:59 +0000

Would like to everyone's opinion on Which Winch to purchase with the following in mind.
Heading to Cape in the next couple of months and want one for back up.

- My chariot isn't an extreme 4wd, its more of a Touring vehicle.
- Budget

Let me know your thoughts.
Cheers

Mate if you’re on a budget, you can’t go past the domin8tor from the 4wd supacentre.
Have had one on both my 4wds now and both have been treated terribly. Fully submerged in mud more times than I’d like to mention. Neither have ever been serviced and never had a drama with either. All my mates have ALOT more expensive ones. And have all had dramas!

Definitely the domin8tor mulder. Two mates have them and never a problem yet. Bang for buck is hard to beat. Like Tyler said I've got mates with warns that have trouble all the time.
How's the canopy setup going, I'm watching for inspiration mate, bring on the next vid.

Deadly, I have just checked them out. They look awesome. Do you know what sort of deal they do, As they were a touch out of my budget but I might be able to stretch it a little more, :P

I know a lot of the questions in this thread are from way back in 2015 but just to clarify.

Nearly every single winch on the market use the same bolt pattern so fitment to any bar should not be an issue.

As for ARB bars I have fit all sorts of bars and winches and combos of both over the years and it’s very very rare for winches to not fit it is usually the clutch handle which will be the issue. It will foul because of limited placement options. (From memory I think the ALDI winches could only clock the trans every 90 degrees as an example)
Most motors and gear boxes can be clocked to accommodate any fitment and placement.

As for why is WARN So expensive.
5 year warranty which is easily accessible nationwide.
American Company
And apart from the Magnum Line and a couple of industrial winches from memory they are all American Made too so American labour is more expensive then cheap Asian labour.

As for Smitty built for a bang for your buck winch I will Admit they certainly have grown on me over the years. So worth looking into.

And as for the original thread question runva or super Centre. Runva all the way purely from a back up of parts etc. there is some comfort in knowing your warranty has a storefront not just a website.

So picked myself up a winch.
next question is.

Do i need to remove the bullbar to fit?
it is the 2014 hilux with the ARB winch bar.

Fingers crossed I don't.... lol

G'day Mulder, I just installed a Dominator into my ARB bar on my 2012, I took my bar off but I think you could MAYBE get away with just taking the bash plates off and push it up from underneath and get a mate to slip the bolts in. Hope you've been working out though as they are heavy

If you decide to take your bar off put some marks around the bolts so it lines up exactly the same when you put it back on.

Maybe do a how-to video on it? :D

My outlaws bought me a Supercreep Ridge Ryder 12000 pound winch last Xmas for $500 (50% off sale) I have it in my AFN hoop bar. Hasn’t failed me, wireless and corded remote works well. I would be surprised if anyone has bought one for the +$1000k RRP the have listed on them. I probably wouldn’t have purchased one for myself, but I am really happy with it.Image

Cheers Mate,

Yeah I am think the bullbar will have to come off. :?
I have the recovery point to fit at the same time. so to save any stuffing around I will just tear it off and strap it all in and whack it back on. lol, Might be a sneaky video in tail of it.

Literally just uploaded a new video. (shameless plug) :D
