Winch - What to get?

Postby RevvedUp on Sun, 09 Aug 2015 10:40 +0000

Hi Everyone,

Ok, I've gone long enough without having a winch, so it's time to finally get one but I'm a little stumped on what to get.
I have two winches in mind, the Runva 11xp or the Domin8r from 4wd SupaCentre. I have searched the forum and there is a lot of positive things said about the Runva, but nothing recent on the Domin8r. Anyone running the Domin8r and how does it perform and what's the quality like being a $600 winch??

Opinions would be great, Runva or Domin8r??

Cheers,

Marek.

Out of the 2 I'd go the Runva.
Heard a few negative storied about the Domin8r, but no personal experience with either.

I am also looking at these two. Can anyone confirm if these will bolt straight onto a ARB Deuluxe bullbar?

I have heard ARB make them for the Warn winch and therefore anything other than a Warn will result in a little bit more work to fit up.

Iam in the amrket for a winch also >
Not sure how we could work this but we should try and do a group buy ?????
Surely if we buy a few we can knock the price down a fair bit

what about Smittybuilt? Looks good from specs and not that expensive, you can even buy in on the Internet from the US and bypass the middleman importer tax

Why is Warner so expensive on a side note?

I have ARB Sahara bar mate and got the Runva 11xp fitted no dramas.

2 of my friends have the domin8er winch and they both cop alot of use and have had no issues with it but I myself am still abit skeptical about them.
A winch isnt really something you want to skimp out on.

I have had the Wolf edition Runva 11XP with the hand held wireless remote control for a while now.....only have done a few recoveries no real dramas, about a 20 M range on the remote......recently did a recovery where the winch was used on and off for a long time(about an hour) and it did over heat and stop but once it cooled down it operated fine.......you have to rotate the winch motor to get it to fit a low mount position of most bars......it will easily fit in the Sahara bar just loose the grill......if you push it up as high as it will go in the mounting hole you shouldn't need an off set fairlead......
Cheers Richo

Ok, going by this, looks like I'll be going for the Runva too..
Definitely interested in a group buy if we can get enough people for it to be a possibility, Wolf 4x4 sounds good!
