What did you do to your Hilux today?

Postby Rocket55 on Wed, 01 Jul 2015 6:54 +0000

Let's hear it.

Did you service it, new tyres, wheels, suspension, bar work, wash it, get it dirty, just look admirably at it, drive it around the block, new exhaust, spot lights....

Multiple things, towed enough hay to be well over the break towing capacity I would say  Got a quote for a Buffalo aluminium heavy duty tray with angled departure boxes, and 120l diesel sub tank. Got bogged up to the axles, and cleaned the interior out and ordered a rear interior mat for my space cab.

I also fitted my Supa Fit full suite of seat covers in black denim last night and am very happy with the fit and finish, but I went with black denim after previously having ruff nuts in my last hilux, and these black denim covers are going to be getting dirtier much quicker than the ruffnuts did I think, unfortunately!

Drove to work tonight and parked in the car park. It will stay there until I drive home in the morning.

You don't need pictures for that.

Looked at it on jack stands as I walked up the drive way. It will be a week off the road Friday. Still waiting for toyota to honour the warranty on my wheel bearing that lasted about 5 minutes at best.

Finally installed a new LED work light to the sports bar (massive rut getting the wires hidden!!) and also got the 12v engel plug in the tub. Full on geeky dad hobby job but it passed the time and works well!!

Made a small hook for the back of my old ipad cover so I can hang the ipad on the steering wheel and steal Bunnings free wifi at lunchtime.

Does the HPD catch can not drain by itself?

Nope, catches it into a bowl that screws off which is better than the provent imo. Haven't seen anyone yet to run a line back into the sump with the provent either..

I don't run a line to the sump with my provent either, but it has a tap on the end of a hose. To empty it you just open the tap and drain it.

Read about 200 pages on the forum to try and figure out what to do with my exhaust? Have got a 2010 SR diesel Auto and trying to get a bit more go out of the old girl rolling 245/75/17 (just shy of 32) without getting a divorce and spending a bucket load on chip and exhaust. So been looking into the old straight through exhaust (cheap) by cutting out existing muffler and bang in a new short section and leave the rest at 2.5 or could look at pricing out a 2.75 dump, cat and straight through. Ive read that 2.75 might be better because its auto? hmmm more reading.

Just go 3" and be done with it. You know you want to. :D it's very easy to get caught up on forums chasing the very best of the best and the last 1% of performance, economy, lift, technology, etc. pick a quality product, bolt it on and enjoy it. 8-)

Sure right on the forum thing im a researcher. So u reckon 3 inch dump, cat and then through the whole lot or bang a muffler in the 3 inch? Is the 2.75 with the auto a consideration or just bang a 3 inch and shut up?
