1. Yes.

2. No. Not on the bendix shoes I bought. Maybe it comes with genuine ones?

Well that's a PITA but good to know. I guess I bought genuine ones as I've never had that problem.
I might be wrong.

I replaced the head unit a few years back and broke some of those yellow clips behind the a/c controls and head unit surround.

The tabs on the inside were too big which stopped it from latching to the interior panel. Did a redraw and came up with a new tab design:

These ones fit the top clips but not the ones in the middle of the panel. Currently in the process of a reprint to make them work on both. Here’s the original vs the first two attempts:

Nothing special. Changed the oil and filter. Checked the diffs, transfer and gearbox oils. The front diff filler is still a b!tch to get at. I was hoping it had magically become easier since the last time I did it. Dropped 6 litres of radiator coolant and replaced it. Greased the unis and rear shackles. Nearly ready for our 4 months west coast trip which kicks off in 4 weeks.

I ran aux power into the cab to a 4 blade fuse block this morning. Thought I would get the legwork done for a few new usb ports and stuff that are on the slow boat from china. Will mount two in the front for the phones and a surface mount one in the rear, on the back of the centre consul, for the kids ipads and camp lights and stuff.

I have given up on trying to find usb ports that don't have stupid led lights around them, could only find one on ebay from the US which was a stoopid price.

You can clip the LED off if you can get it open, it's just a resistor and LED in parallel.

I went with the Narva dual usb socket as it doesn't have an LED. I mounted it to the center console without the plate.

Thanks Flip...............Given my retardedness with those things I would break it trying to get it open.
I like the Narva, but I can only find the dual with a 1amp and 2.1 amp. I am chasing the dual 2.1amp.Cheers

If you haven't put gas bonnet struts in your truck yet, do it. Not even five minutes to install the kit and it works like a dream!!

Had a bit of time Sunday so Installed a few easy mods which had been sitting in the Shed Cupboard.

1. Installed Narva worklights with relay and switch in console to AUX battery.
2. Removed LED Headlight globes and Installed new Headlight Globes - Narva Platinum Plus 130.
3. Installed Hella Sharptone Horn.
4. Installed Reverse Camera.
5. Installed LED Reverse lights - Wow they are bright.
6. Cleaned rear tailight globes from dust.
7. Installed AUX Battery power outlet wiring ready for the Plug.

The led headlight lights were White Bright but useless, didnt work like the Halogens. Doesn't seem to reflect correctly.

LED Reverse Globes.

Put new headlights in today. New Narva bulbs, led parkers, reverse lights, number plate bulbs, and internal lights.

Took me ages to "break" every clip off the grill pulling it out. Overall I was going for about 4 hours but worth it now that I can see the road again when driving at night.

Replacement headlights were TMR off ebay for $150 delivered. With all the bulbs probably cost around $250 but thats a job I wont have to do again (ever) for a while I hope.

Got vehicle dynoed to get a base reading. 87kw @3700rpm.(auto) Not bad for a 2006 with well over 200,000 km

I work from home, and most days I am just running the kids too and from school. I picked up a little 2013 Yaris for $3.5k (it’s like driving a go kart compared to the Hilux) as a daily driver.

So the plan is to turn the Hilux into a weekend ‘push the start button’ and go machine.

We live 5 mins from a 4x4 access beach which makes the sat night camping really easy, and we try and go off road ‘red dirt’ at least every quarter.

So here is my first ‘adventure mod’

Recovey Trax mounts.

As these are going to be staying on the pioneer platform, I needed to keep the top of the platform free when I’m getting materials for work ect.

Aside from the rhino rack channel nuts I picked up from Autobarn, the rest of the materials was from ‘Barry’ Bunnings. 40mm x 5mm steel flat bar, aluminium flat bar, and stainless steel M12 & M10 bolts.

After taking it for a test drive I’m pretty happy with the end results, I wasn’t too sure if the canopy would ‘take off’ traveling along the motorway at 120km, but the were solid with no movement.

There is a little ‘flutter’ when hitting bumps off road ect, but for my purpose of having them accessible when we hit our beach (and the kids use them to make track sand castles) they work really well.

My canopy side windows just pop out at the rear, I got the canopy new half price from Toyota as it was a messed up prior order.

I’m just spraying the brackets for now, if I’m still happy with them after the summer I’ll get them powder coated.

Also - my AFN scrub bars and steps are coming this week.Image

Since years my sandboards travel inside underneath the fridge. It was an annoying piece of sh... to get them out when bogged.
Finally I managed to stick some airline to the rig and build some holders for the boards. Those holders are expensive when buying out of the box. And they are quite complicated to unmount and mount.

Those holder may not be very fancy but they are quite simple and the boards are ready within seconds and restored under a minute. Wind sounds are acceptable.

New Tough Dog struts in the Adjustable variant, new rotors and pads.

Drives like a dream. Just clocked up 96,000 in the 2012 SR, still on the original Cooper AT3's.
