Wonder if the complete range was tested, bet the complete range would be in the same boat.

Thanks for the heads up, pretty sure I have these straps  Guess I'll have to see if it's the same batch when I get home in a week.

Hillsy they or 4wd action (can't remember) put a post up on facebook about it.

So I have 2 of their 11t straps (1 still in plastic) and i got them for the price of one with a deal they had. Hope they aren't replacing the faulty batch with a batch of the same quality even though it may be a different batch number

They probably only tested them after they failed on the unsealed magazine test

Yeah I got a tjm snack strap and a 4wd supercenter recovery kit and that snatch strap is so much thinner then the tjm strap. Torsion your not right sometimes you are better off with the more expensive stuff like that.

Apparently they're emailing affected customers.... I've not received an email, so will be emailing them, about that and another subscription deal where what they advertised and what they sent were not the same thing :/

That said, if you're using an 8000kg snatch strap with a 4.7t shackle, you probably want the snatch strap to break before the shackle does!!!

Okay, so had a look at the article and video, the hercules strap is definitely shite, but as far as the test goes, yes the breaking strain is measured, but snatch straps are subjected to a dynamic load rather than a fixed increasing load so I'm not convinced on the testing methodology as a test for real life efficacy of the straps themselves. Think of it like as elastic band, the ability of the elastic band to hold weight and it's ability to fire a folded piece of paper at someone aren't necessarily directly related.... but i've never tried such a test so I could be wrong :?

I wouldn't say you get what you paid for as they rate the arb strap the best and it isn't the most expensive, but the old term "cheap and nasty" can probably be applied.

The real moral of this story for me is the old winch/snatch strap dampener should always be used.

So as i mentioned earlier I have two of these straps... yes i got them from the 4wd Supa Centre and yes they have the same batch number as the hercules ones that are recalled but because they have the Roo Systems logo (bought them back when Roo was still with 4wd Action) they said they are not affected... Seems really fishy to me. Seems like they have wiped their hands of Roo Systems since he left 4wd Action and won't honour their products :(

SO i got a letter telling about the recall, only the snatch strap. The way it read the "new" straps won't be available till august so I send mine back and wait two months for a replacement? I reckon I might just go get an ARB snatch strap :D

got an arb strap, sent the hercules one back at their cost for replacement.... even if you bin the replacement you should send yours back for replacement otherwise they win for selling a shit product.
