Hi all,
Just wondering what weights your tyre fitter uses on SR5 alloys? I have just had a balance done and the weights used seem to scratch the shit out of the SR5 rims. Is there an alternative available????? If you could post some pics it would be great.

get them to use the stick on ones they use on other Mag's. I got them to fit them to mkine because of the same reason they just stick to the inside of the rim seem to be fine after about 2000k's over half on rough corrigated roads.

plus the ones they hammer over the edge of the rim have a habbit of falling off when you let your tyre pressures down, i learnt that the hard way!!

Guys,

Moving to wheels & tyres.

I don't use the stick on types as they don't stick very well and they cost a bomb too.

The normal weight don't look good but i am looking for functionality over form.

Oops....... moving back to general discussion as it's related to the SR5 original rims.

Cam,

I had this chat with the guys at Fourbies when they fitter my new 17's and coopers. Its impossible to get away without fitting the weights due to the nature of inconsistencies in the rubber and the weight of the blocks.

I was given the option of just the inside stick on weights but was highly recommended that I aslo include the outside ones becasue I was using Mud Terrains which are prone to becoming unbalanced.

I have had the coopers regulaulry balanced and rotated at the same shop and each time, the weights change on the outside of the rim. They scratch each time and always end up somewhere differnently on the rim? Cant complain as they always drive straight and wear very evenly. As well, one tire and rim has only a tiny weight whilst the other has four large ones for the exact same combo. I think its just one of those things you have to live with. Some companies offer the powder weights you can inject inside the tire which rotate with it and keep a constant weight and balance but sounds a bit gimmicky.
