just did uluru and simpson desert from brisbane, d4d auto DC, full barwork on 33's, best was 9.93L/100km between roma and brisbane, was using around the 18L per 100 through the desert, that includes dragging a broken hilux across the claypans coz he only had 2wd

An update on my fuel economy. No, I've not been able to remove the lead from my foot on the highways

I had the works done to the 'Lux about a month ago - that being an injector swap (to BDG), new fuel lines, new fuel filter, new suction control valve, and a clean of the EGR and intake manifold. My last tank (regular driving, no particular style) yielded roughly 10.1L per 100km, or 643.7km at the appearance of the low fuel light. Variables for the vehicle are here, plus a catch can (not sure if this an impacting variable to fuel economy). I filled up 64.97L at the bowser so I had another 11L in the tank.

If my last readings are correct, I use .4L less per 100km. But, I mean, .4L can be dismissed as driving style and so forth. In the end, I'm quite happy with the distance I get out of the 'Lux given its purpose and modifications.

Update after a few add ons....standard trim (except the canopy) was getting 8.7 l/100km, have now added arb steel winch bar, sliders, 2inch lift, and 265/70r17 ko2's, now getting 9.5 l/100kms

Hi all. I just got my Scangauge back from update. Now I know there is a whole procedure to set the fuel reading. But isn't it just a calibration. And if same one has this figure of what it is on the lux can I just use that with out the stuffing around.

I get about 1250 out of 150L tank. But I am running heavy constantly with fridge dual batteries draws steel bar winch etc so I recon that's not bad for something that weighs 2.8t/3t.

long term i'm stuck at ~10.0 / 10.5 per 100 km

Longer rides 1000+ km with loads of 120km/h and even 130 km/h (gps speeds) will brutally kick it down to 12,5L/100km (or 8km/l).

as long as I stick <110 km/h it stays 'ok ish' with an avarave of 10.5 l/100km

Dual cab, with canopy, BFG A/T, default size, no other mods or equipment. 2.5 VNT + cat (Europe, Netherlands)

Stick to sub 100kph and see the figures get better rapidly I get 6.8 to 7.3 regularly

Here's the data I've collected except for the original fuel from the dealer. All based on litres from the servo and odometer readings.

2014 SR5 manual diesel:
ARB bar + canopy + rear bar + snorkel from new
Custom made drawers with 2nd battery in the tray
BFG A/Ts standard size from new
OME 2" lift + winch + alloy traddie rack added around 15,000 km

Most driving is mix hwy and suburb commute with occasional towing 2 t trailer and runs along the beach.

I have had DP chip then the Roo systems piggy back. They was ok. I had my issues But now I've got a remapp and it's got about the same peak power but shit loads smoother and fuel is a little better too. The truck as a whole unit is more enjoyable to drive. The egr is turned off in the ECU. I fitted a blanking plate which I have the installer working on removing the error code for but I think I will remove it soon anyway, as I have a good catch can fitted. I removed the intercooler last weekend and found very little amount of oil. So I'm on the right track there.

Hi everyone

Looking at some of these figures, I'm a bit disheartened...

I know I have about 12 tonne on board, but I'm disappointed with the figures.

2012 SR 3.0
ARB Canopy, internal bars, Drifta drawers, ARB bullbar, side steps and rear bar, dual batteries, winch, 55L water tank, usual gear, and recently a James Baroud RTT.

Monday just gone, I did Syd to Bendigo, mostly all highway - 15.6/100 on the way down, 15.8 on the way back up.

It would be easy to blame the tent on top.....but previous figures suggest this is an improvement

My average since owning the vehicle is 15.0L/100 over $11,500 worth of fuel.

I've checked tyre pressures regularly. I've even gone through it to check fro brake binding and stuff like that. Its serviced to within an inch of its life, so filters etc are good.

I'm about to have a small fire with it I think

Any suggestions?

Edit - Forgot to mention: approx 64k's and no chips or other mods at this point.

Mate in standard trim here ok with out modes. But you go away from standard start opening up for the needs of performance gains. You want look back done right.

While I'm shopping around for Aux or replacement tanks, thought I'd re-calculate my usage.

V6 Auto, standard gearing (yes, my Nitro's are still sitting in thier box), 33's standard engine/ exhaust, TRD air filter, Denso snorkel.

Over three tanks with A/C in constant use, 50/50 mix of town/ highway I returned 13.26lt/100km

I posted mainly so I'll have an accurate range estimate, and something to use as a benchmark when I get the gears/ exhaust, air intake done (plan to do all this year as the lux is now off finance).

In the course of this I also figured out that my GPS mileage is pretty consistantly 8.2% higher than my ODO.

I have recently replaced my Injecters and exhaust on my 08 D4 diesel, 65 litres I managed to get 700ks before the fuel light came on ..

Well when I commented above I though I was at the end of the thread but then tonight I found nearly a whole page of dribble that I neglected to read. My bad.

To be honest I couldn't be bothered trying to clean it up so I just deleted it all. Easier that way, nothing lost anyway.

I recently did a 500km trip in my 09 dual cab v6 auto. vehicle is lifted, 31's, alloy bar, steel canopy, rhino tradie rack, kayak on top and towing a 800kg camper. driving was a mix of highway, country roads and low range. total fuel used 100l.

so that works out at 20l per 100kms.......
