Drove from Melbourne to Sydney last weekend to pick up a caravan,
driving up there I used 88.2ltrs for 870kms, = 10ltrs for 98.63kms was very pleased.
Coming back down was a different story, 10ltrs per 65.26kms .
I do drive at the speed limit, even doing 110 towing the caravan and in 5th gear.
Installed new baileys injectors about 4 months ago.

Just towed my little 14ft Viscout 450kms, being a high van it adds a bit of wind resistance and I was LOADED in the tub also,, 13.5lt/100km,, pretty happy with it really,, usual numbers are 9l/100km

17.5L/100. + 5% speedo error = 16.6L/100km
Normal driving on dunes / beach tracks for 80km and the rest of the tank on good quality HWY doing whatever speed the car was comfortably doing at lower revs.
Had the rooftop tent on like normal but since last post I've added steel bullbar and winch. I think the consumption has gone up 1L per 100 with this :(
Good tailwind on the way up, light headwind back.

Drove my dual cab D4D auto right across the country recently when I relocated from Newcastle to Perth, with the tub chockers with crap and towing a 7' x 5' single axle box trailer also chockers.
Averaged around 10L/100kms, or around 720kms till the fuel light, but we took it real slow as we weren't in a hurry, sitting on around 95 because my missus was following in her car and that's her happy speed.
It makes a massive difference to consumption when you nudge the speed up a bit. At first I was champing at the bit to go faster, but hey it was a camping trip, we had a long way to go, a month to do it and to be honest once I got used to it, I prefer it.

Have since changed my SCV on the fuel pump, presto, even better economy, it's taken that choppiness out of the idle and the engine just seems smoother under all conditions.
Regards Chris.

Since getting the SR5 trip computer working I've been able to watch my fuel usage far more accurately between fill ups.
I understand this computer isn't the most accurate, but I do believe it is accurate in the sense of when you are using more or less fuel.
Where I live I'm surrounded by traffic lights in hilly built up areas and I've observed this has a considerable affect on my fuel economy, but can be somewhat managed by driving style. I never used to think my driving style could affect my usage as much as it does (I'm already a pretty cruisey driver) but even little things like using the accelerator as little as possible, coasting where-ever possible, and staying in gear when approaching a stop (instead of just idling up in neutral) has an affect of as much as 1.5L/100km.

The proof will be in my next fill up, as my last tank netted me 12.7/100km with only the last 50km of watching the fuel economy readout (just fitted).

It isn't exactly a secret that driving style can affect your economy, but you'd amazed at just how much better you can do even when you think you're doing everything right!

Did another fuel economy check
Late 07 build V6 dual cab,ARB sahara bar,dual batts,31's,2" lift,snorkel.
Ute was mostly unloaded ,normal city and highway driving no off-road.
Got 498kms out of tank, did 38kms with fuel light on, when I filled up I put 69.8 litres in.
I'll baby it this tank to see if I can get better

2013 D4D SR VSC
Factory Tyres
Canopy
Roof Racks,
ARB Steel Bullbar
Total weight with Driver and full tank 2,540 Kgs

Around Town average is 11.2 l/100km
All Hi-way average 9.5 l/100Km

I thought that was pretty crappy compared to the 2wd V6 I had before this one where the figures were

Around Town average is 10.7 l/100km
All Hi-way average 9.1 l/100Km

I miss the V6 :(

Hello Scoter

Mate I love the V6 and I would be the first to defend it that's its economy (When driven correctly) is not as bad as some would have you think ------- plus all the other benefits of reliability and low down Torque!

But I think perhaps your almost 1,000kg heavier than your previous 2wd and plus being a 4wd your up higher and not as streamlined.

So maybe I would not feel too bad about your D4 Economy as personally I don't think its too bad considering weight etc. I think you have a good result there and a great vehicle so get out and enjoy it :D

But yes I love my V6 and for me and my 2 cents worth I would not change it unless some big improvements are made to the Diesel ---- I stress just my 2 cents worth.

New mazda 6 mate (wagon ,
Touring spec) , twin turbo diesel, 420nm torque and behaves like a petrol. Love it. 11 speaker Bose stezza goes hard, great to drive.

Not so great on the beach.

Am I correct in guessing that you have an SR and have fitted the Trip computer?
If so can you advise how thats best done and what costs where involved please?
