Recovery points factory steel bullbar

Postby Benji Edge on Sat, 25 Jan 2014 2:20 +0000

So I think there has been some discussion on here before about this issue, but I can't find a concrete answer to what works and what doesn't. Seems all of you are rich enough to buy a new bullbar  I've got a 08 SR with a steel factory bullbar (see photo) and am looking for some decent recovery points. I know that there are the tie down points, but I'd prefer to have some rated recovery points on there. Is there anything that fits with the factory steel bullbar? Does ARB fit? Or TJM? If not, where do I get ones that I can fit?

Bullbar is like the one in the photo below, don't own that car or any rights to the photo blablabla legal blabla

I had the orange ones in the pic fitted by opposite lock when I had a factory bar on my lux

I believe the yellow ones would also work with the factory bar, pic two is the points with an ARB bar

Hi Benjy
I have 2009 double cab with the factory steel bar I've Been looking around for for rated recovery points that work with the existing setup.
Everything I've come across so far is priced between $120-$200 love to hear from any one who has a cheeper solution can't help feeling we are getting tucked for 2 pieces of steel.

Same Hillsy, feels like we're being ripped off just the tiniest bit. Might just see if I can get someone to machine it cheaper for me. If not I might go have a chat to Opposite Lock, thanks Lux Surfer!

Any idea on if you can use the winch as a rated recovery point- my point meaning if winch cable is all in around the drum , and motor has shit itself can you snatch from the winch hook?

The arb recovery point replaces the support bracket underneath. Ive got one on my 08 SR5 with stock alloy toyota bar (the one that looks like its off a bus) went on very easy to. Was about 200 I think

I would highly suggest you do not snatch from the winch! The only way that you would be able to use it this way would be to tow from it if absolutely necessary. The better option would be a bridle connected to the two recovery points, not the tie down points, and recover from there. NOTE The recovery points face the front & the tie down points face the ground & are smaller. My opinion only but have been trained & practiced this method.

Reviving an old thread but does anyone I've a part number for he orange one? I'm in the same predicament where I have the yellow recovery points but they don't fit with the factory Toyota Bullbar.

Hi Guys
Have been looking through these old threads on recovery points, i'm looking at buying a set of roadsafe ones, however after looking at my arb bulbar mount it slightly covers the hole closet to the cab, just wondering what others did ? was thinking I should just drill it out, sorry havent worked out how to upload a photo yet
The other option is I think the allterain ones would work but are then any disadvantages using them as they only have 2 bolts in them and roadsafe has 3 any thoughs would be appreciated thanks

I drilled it out and had to put same washers in as spacer.
That was on the road safe ones.
