Also, depending on which state you reside in, you may need a mod plate after the install. QLD rules state 25% or bigger requires the DOT mod plate

Hi all
Just ordered a brown Davis 153L tank ,$1350 fitted.Fuel extra.Been carrying 3 jerrys in the tub, so looking forward to freeing up that space.
The other tank manufacturers were similar price but 8-13L less in capacity .If brown Davis can squeeze 153l in that space you would think the other guys would too.Your looking at an extra 100ks driving.
Once fitted I'll give a report
Cheers Matt

Has anyone re routed the exhaust and installed a second factory tank that has a top up pump to the main tank?
That's around 150l all up and the advantage of two fuel locations in the case of if you damage one tank you have a second? You would need new bracket-crossmembers etc

yeh I do mate but looking into something similar to yours but just have to work out if its worth the effort to get one custom made or go with the ironman tank above the spare wheel. I am not to keen on a long range set up having all my fuel in one tank.do you mind if I ask what you paid for your tank.

$350 for the tank.
I made it higher than the original so its gravity feed, you could go lower and add a pump.
The biggest pain was finding a filler hose that was diesel compatible as i only wanted one filler.
In the end i went to the wreckers and picked up a bt 50 filler neck and hose for $35.
Your biggest issue will be where to fill it from.

That would be ideal but not sure about having petrol under my canopy. Any thoughts on that.

That's a lot of weight hanging past the diff. That one not for me.

If your responding to my setup.
The tank is centered over the rear diff with the weight distributed between the 2 front most tray cross members. [where you would normally load a ute tray, at the head board]
I am sure each corner of the chassis tray mounts can handle 20kg and considering the whole vehicle is rated to carry around 800kg.
But if it was behind the diff I'm guessing you have never taken into consideration that the vehicle can tow 2.5t and therefore should have a ball weight that is 10 percent, that’s 250kg of static weight hanging of the very back on the tow ball.

Have read through this thread, but all option seem to be eastern states. I'm looking at an extended tank and have these guys at Mt Barker in South Ozz.
http://www.fnb4wd.com.au/
They have a huge selection of all sorts, for many makes. Theirs is Aluminium, was looking at an ARB, as these can be fitted in Adelaide also, using original mounts.

Has anybody had any experience with fnb4wd? I have a friend who has been in their workshop and he says it is awsome. They have a tank that goes where the spare is, spare need re-locating.

Have a Prado 150 and series 80 with reserve, that spoils me re fuel range in our isolated location.
