I made up my own. No photos on the but when it was mostly finished.

3 mm steel. Just got the old ones and bent the new plates up to a similar shape. Fits fine

Very nice. Can I make a suggestion based on the experience of the Brown Davis one I have which is of a similar one piece design and that is to include some holes not so much for servicing but to get sand/mud out of it. I have just come back form a beach trip and mine is full off sand which I just can't seem to wash out. I am going to take it off and think about putting some strategically placed holes in it. I know by doing so I risk compromisng the protection of the bash plate but taking the plate off and on (for me) is not easy as I've lost access to a hoist.

Just thought I'd throw this in

I bought the Ironman 3mm plate bash plates from "Dobinsons" at Smaeaton grange NSW today. Marty there is a great bloke and really looked after me.
we tested the TJM bash plates and it didnt protect the transfer case at all so I went for the Ironman set up,if it needs beefing up ill do what needs doing but at least its supposed to extend back to protect the transfer case.
Should pick them up next week.

they're dome head bolts, so should be fairly immune to damage

I've had mine on for about 2 years with no issues (even when Toyota left some bolts out!)

I'm happy with Bud's button/dome head bolts. They shouldn't catch like perhaps a protective ring would.

I'll see how they go over time, and if necessary, might need to replace them occasionally. No biggy.

I bought a box full of replacement stainless steel dome heads from Metaland - cheap enough and handy for other jobs. Just replace any damaged bolts as needed - only required when heavily scraping over rocks

That's a plan. Hadn't thought of stainless. I'll grab some and shove 'em in the buggery box.

The factory underbody protection is rubbish for decent offroad use. I say rubbish but then i havent seen anything get through one, but they look so battered in no time at all.

Im in Darwin the same as RockCrawler. I have used the ARB one om my current Hilux and my previous one without any dramas. I think with any bash plate, if you hit them hard enough you will start running into bolt holes that wont line up or captive nuts that stop being captive

The dome head bolts wont last. Mine lasted about 6months before I could get 2 out of 8 bolts out.

The rest I had to cut a slot with a grinder and make up a big hardened steel tip to put in a impact driver.

I have replaced with high tensile hex head bolts.

Cant believe people use stainless steel though. Have fun getting them out when they don't want to come out!

X2

Wouldn't they just bind up after 3 turns and cause all sorts of mayhem?

Stainless also has a lower tensile strength, i love my stainless, but on cars or bikes, it just wont hold up like steel,
in sheet metal work the welds will crack, on bolts holding big loads they may sheer...
